How well does your character get along with their coinpurse?

Do they manage money well?
Do they save up carefully for big things, or constantly spend here and there?
Are they unnecessarily frugal about some things? Do they have a bad habit of overspending on their favorite food?
How do they react when they have a big windfall?
What do they do when money is tight?
Do they prefer cold hard gil, or does their wealth consist of favors and debts owed to them? Are they a conspiracy theorist who swears the only real money that won't suddenly drop in value is Allagan Platinum?
Does your character think they're in a different wealth bracket than they actually are?
How does your character view people who are richer or poorer?
Does your character give charitably? Do they refuse charity aimed at them?

Please, spin me a tale about your character's wealth! Tell me what they think! I'm curious!

Cygnus is an impulsive thief, so pretty quick to toss his Gil around when he gets it. Really he would prefer favors if the person who owes him has a skill he doesn't have or can't buy easily though.

Ironically enough, the two characters I have currently fleshed out the designs for are polar opposites on the concept of gil.

Fe’lanah absolutely hates the use of money in any way. She in turn carries no money herself and if she does get any she can’t refuse, she just hands it on to someone and continues along her merry way. She cares a lot about it being used and she tends to fuss at people who do spend it as well as having a reputation for harassing merchants. I guess you could say that she is unnecessarily frugal from society’s point of view; it’s just a result of her personal philosophies.

The Duke of the Isles, Rhett is the owner of what seems like infinite wealth that let him essentially buy his title. His massive wealth has resulted in him being somewhat apathetic about how it is used and what qualifies as expensive to him. He speaks about insanely high numbers as if they were pocket change, but he has the odd habit of haggling on everything he purchases even if it falls back to the original price. He usually makes large splurges and does not seem to spend much more for a while. He has no emotional difference in regard to anyone, regardless of their wealth, and will always laugh heartily if anyone asks him if his money ever gets “tight”. He often pays in gil alone, but he values favors being owed to him more than a large portion of his money.

So in a nutshell. I have a broke person who hates money and a rich person who does not care about money very much.

Eses is practicing for married life, by giving every bit of money to her partner whenever she finds it. Not that she'd actually have a use for it..she's happy with a bath, a bed and food.

Y'zhara

Zhara had very humble beginnings. Her father was an Ul'dahn merchant, but he was a modest man who raised Zhara and her brother with a comfortable, but not lavish lifestyle. Zhara continued living out a regular, working class lifestyle much like her father did when she was a barmaid and dancer, but all of a sudden her wealth significantly changed when she became an idol and songstress.

Now, she almost has an unlimited amount of gil which at first, she had no clue what to do with. It's overwhelming when you go from living from paycheck to paycheck to having a huge cushion of gil. She now donates a lot to charity, one of the many things she did was buy a large load of blankets for the refugees in Ul'dah. She also contributes to her boyfriend's smithing business. Both Zhara and her boyfriend make quite a bit of bank, but since they both have very modest values, they live in his smithy in the Ul'dah Industrial district. They want to get a house in the future, it's just a matter of finding the right place.

Liara

Liara's had some financial problems in her past, but for the most part she has had a steady income and would be considered middle class by most. Liara has a private medical practice, which makes her some good income but Liara's very modest and frugal and tends to save her money. She considers big investments very carefully and only spends when she believes she needs to.

Over gil and anything else, Liara values her friends and family and will most likely spend gil to support them over herself.

Ayane: She comes from a wealthy family, but since her arrival in Eorzea she has been cut off from her family's resources and has been rather frugal with her gil. She largely lives hand to mouth with her adventuring work, putting most of her money towards weapon and armor maintenance. Sometimes she can afford to splurge on a good meal.

Reiko: She is largely in the same situation as her sister Ayane. However, she has made some connections here and there which have lessened her money troubles considerably.

Celica: She comes from a wealthy family that pays for just about everything so that she can focus on her research. She does some adventuring work on the side, but this is more to gain combat experience than to acquire wealth. Despite her family's wealth, she's not frivolous with her gil, but does live rather comfortably.

Maligna: She has almost no concept of gil, preferring to use the barter system. She carries no gil with her, but is adept at survival in the wilderness and will sometimes trade potions or do mercenary work for food/gear. Magical items have the greatest value to her.

Corelyn Rosefire/jen Bellor:
Corelyn was noble-born in Garlemald and never really wanted for much. However, having lived in Eorzea on her own with almost no contacts and making her own way since the Calamity stranded her, she's learned to be frugal. However, she gives freely to those in need, and generally is rather humble, even when she does have a small wealth to herself from any given thing.

Hali Naras:
Hali is used to being on her own. Though she's not the most responsible with her funds, she makes sure she has at least enough to secure shelter, food, and whatever basic needs she may have. When she does come into windfalls of any sort, she tends to spend them on notebooks and writing supplies or food. When it comes to certain foods, she has little self-control, though.

Dail'a Naras:
Dail'a is completely irresponsible with his money. He blows it all on anything from grand feasts to charitable donations, all on a whim. Given he'll sleep anywhere from a luxury inn to a literal hole in the ground, and is a skilled hunter in his own right, he's never bothered by a lack of wealth.

Neilas sas Seles:
Neilas, like Corelyn, was born a Garlean noble. He was lavished with attentions and never wanted for much. The same holds true now, with his position as a Tribunus. Why worry about your own money when you can just make someone do it for you?

Ell is used to not having a lot of money and tends to be careful about saving, that being said she has a sweet tooth and has been known to drop a Gil or two on sweets now and then.

She's also very bad at watching her purse in larger populated areas like Ul'dah and has been robbed no less than 4 times, sometimes in bold and creative ways, it's become a bit of a running gag.

Kodie manages gil really well, and being a more experienced Adventurer he can ask for a higher price, but in the end he does like to save as much as he can cause he's learned the hard way through the years about using up all of your gil between jobs. Though at the same time he's known to spend a lot on gifts for people, so that seems to be his big vice.

Korben works on a Maelstrom Lieutenant salary, so it's decent I guess, enough to afford a small house with his wife and live a modest life.
