So I'm not sure if anybody has done this, but I thought I would go ahead and put this up as a helpful reference for anybody who is developing a character/sense of space.

Now, in addition to the map of the individual zones, we also have a map of Eorzea that can be accessible using the world map feature. This map has actually not changed (as far as I am aware) since the legacy days, though the features within each zone has changed dramatically:

Now, if you take a pretty close look at the map, you may start seeing letters that actually look familiar -- such as "something Deep" in the ocean above La Noscea, and "Lim-- Lom--" for Limsa Lominsa. This is because the language that Eorzea uses is English. Though, the alphabet does look a bit different than our own:

So, knowing this, some rather clever players over at Bluegartr forums was able to piece together the rest of the map. So, here it is in all it's glory:

Now for some fun stuff...

With these maps we can see that there are a lot of places we haven't touched -- Dravania is well to the West of Ishgard, and Ala Mhigo is actually far to the East. There is also the entire CITY of Sharlavan that up until now hasn't even been MENTIONED. The reasons for this as far as I am aware are presently unknown. What they look like (especially in the mention of Ala Mhigo, since it's still under Garlean occupation), what races are present, even the type of beatmen in the area is entirely up to speculation.

This raises some exciting possibilities and also some interesting questions in regards to RP. As RPers, how do you feel about placing your characters into areas that canon hasn't touched? For example, my character grew up in The Cieldalaes. While it isn't as extreme as Sharlavan (for examples, Cildalaes is known for it's Spinach and Clams, and the fact that there is a skirmish there and a rather wealthy Ul'dah merchant desired to make a summer home there), there are more mysteries there than there are answers. What are your thoughts? I have no problem being jonessed a bit -- The Cieldalaes is actually a chain of islands so the possibility that some of them are inhabited strikes me as very good but, still...

Thy life is a Riddle to bear Rapture and Sorrow
To Listen, to Wonder, to Entrust unto tomorrow
In One fleeting Moment from the land doth Life flow
Yet in that Same Fleeting moment Thou must Live, Die, and Know
