Hey all!

I finally gave in and bought the game yesterday. As it happens I somehow, miraculously, picked Gilgamesh as my server. After a couple levels I thought to look into what the RP servers were and discovered I'd picked true!

I'm Tatum Tummo on Gilgamesh. Pretty much a beginner RPer, especially as far as FF is concerned, but definitely more into that than racing to endgame. I am quiet and laid back - I like to get a feel for a situation before jumping in. Tat herself may end up quite different as I develop her character though. Just trying to learn the ropes atm!

Always willing to hook up with patient folks in-game. Sometimes I'm online and multi-tasking work (hehehe) so please don't be offended if I don't reply or suddenly go silent. I've got to squeeze my fun in where I can.Â Tongue

I tried Balmung when I saw it was the "old school" server but it wouldn't let me make a character at the time. Boo!

Yeah, the server opening times to create a character are really late at night or really early in the morning. They won't allow character creation if there is a small queue (in the middle of the day there is usually between 1-16 person queue which takes like 20 seconds to get through) which always happens in the middle of the day.

Whenever I want/need to make an alt (for a story or for a friend) I just do it at the end of the night xD.

A great choice in picking Gilgamesh as your starting server! If you'd like to join a somewhat larger group of people who facilitate RP I would suggest.

The first is a short introduction to the RPC and some of its tools (such as the wiki that hosts character profiles and the like.) the second is an RP handbook put together by Eva, while a bit lengthy it serves as an excellent teacher/refresher. It has section links at the top, so you can skim if you fins something you already feel you know well and get to the stuff you want to know more.

Hopefully that helps you along your way a little. Remember, the RPC is by roleplayers for roleplayers, so ask questions, raise concerns, inject yourself into some forum shennanigans all that noise. Best of luck in Eorzea!

In the past few days, I've been monitoring the availability of creation of new characters for Balmung and iirc, it has been available around the clock now. I know that in the past, it hasn't been. Not that I'm trying to steer you away from Gilgamesh or anything. Wink

But should you so choose, Balmung is available for new character creations.

Aaaah! Maybe I'll start a character up on Balmung. I noticed today it was open again. So confusing! I just got past lvl15 Archer and lvl10 Conjurer (plus leveling a couple professions) on Tatum so now I'm torn.

Right now I'm kind of stuck since I can't (easily) find a group to do the first dungeon thing which, I understand, eventually leads to unlocking retainers. Which I could use because apparently I'm a hoarder.

Haha, the server locks are (iirc) based on users logged on at the time (esentially if the server has a queue of more than a few people its locked down.) This how ever meens that during "off hours" or uncommon play-days, it opens up for new people. Hope that helps you understand it a bit.

For the dungeons, on Gilgamesh not really sure who would be good to talk to, perhaps the Coalition linkshell? On Balmung at least feel free to add me to your friendslist even if just to abuse me as a Dungeon helper, I love PVE content, I have a damage dealer and a healer at 50, my Tanks are 30 and 20 respectively so I should be able to help you along most of them with a shortened queue time. (That offers open to anyone reading this! for reals, I love dungeons...)

Retainers are an amazing boon, because you can have two of them. I actually put together a little spread sheet separating their inventory by retainer/tab and material, but I just like spread sheets...

Ick. Queue times are a little harder in the low-level dungeons especially as a DD class. Even with parties with a tank it can take a little longer than usual to find that last healer.

However, if we're on at the same time just hit me up and I'll be happy to run dungeons with you! (Assuming RP isn't going on which lately has taken up a lot of my time.) I'm S'anhu Tia on Gilgamesh. I have some of each class near that level so I can fill whatever role you'd need. I can also hopefully help you get into one of the OOC LSes. I think the first one is full right now, so maybe someone can sneak you in on the second or third. Amaare Margolis (Rock Sandbourne here on the site) is the character who runs the gig so you can send him a tell if he's online and he can likely set you up, as well.
