Hey all, Oran here fresh of the boat in this new and exciting game world. I haven't been playing long but I seem to have become hooked. It's been years since I've had this much fun in an mmo and while I have a lot to learn about the game and it's nuances I'm happy to say I think I'll be here for many years to come.

I'm a long term roleplayer, started out playing pretend as a child and never really grew out of it. I've been actively roleplaying in mmos for four-ish years. Started with light rp with my raidgroup in DDO and moved into hardcore rp-pvp in TOR. Since I left TOR for health reasons ( fell really ill and by the time I recovered my clan had disbanded ) I've been in a few mmos for rp. GW2 is probably the most prominent where I led a small guild from shortly after launch to disbanding about three months ago as people moved from the game.

Never ran into anywhere that felt like 'home' again until I arrived here, just one of those feelings of 'this is the right place for me.' Now I'm slowly reading up on the lore and playing the game and figured I'd start reaching out and being part of the community! Currently I'm playing a character called Oran Swordbreaker on Balmung as I get used to the game. I hope to see you all in game sometime!

DDO? hot damn! I might not be a huge Eberron fan, but I loved some of the class skills in that game, the level of traps/enchantments in dungeons was a lot of fun. Any who~, its cool to hear some one "connect" with the game as it were, I still hit rocky patches as I cling to a few of my 1.0 desires, but an engaging world was certainly provided and it deserves to be explored. Waxing poetic aside, here are a few links that might help you on your way through Eorzea and the RPC.

This is a lengthy, well written and comprehensive guide to "roleplay" sounds kind of nebulous, but if you dig into it a bit, maybe skim to the parts you feel you'd like a second opinion on, you'll find an informative outline rife with suggestions, examples and ideas.

But onto the communities, maybe you just want to jump in and get the proverbial feet wet.

"Intermission" is an OOC linkshell dedicated to roleplayers, in a general sense getting to know each other. It serves a lot of different specific roles, finding where people might be, finding out what they might be up to, if they're open to people joining them ect.

"Balmungs Finest" is to help with the Dungeon itch, if you get those.. I do, I think somethings going around. Particularly with the necessity of Dungeon completion for GC rank ups and story parts, the Finest provide a server based source of people, all the way from Brayflox to Titan!

Hope that gives you an idea of whats out there, maybe give you something you hadn't considered. If nothing else there are plenty of people here who will be willing to answer questions that you might have.
