Ok so I been hearing about how when people rp fight, dice rolls do not always stay fair depending on who's fighting (Hell Bahamut could lose to an 8 year old in a dice rolls) yet people say freeform is very prone to going on with people even making themselves never get hit. Who knows, so I came up with a catalyst using both dice and freeform. Â Be prepared this is gonna be detailed. I came up with the idea when Aaron my character was fighting Nik to the death.
The Concept - This is supposed to be able to be as fair as possible in the rp skill sense (aka everyone both agrees how equal they are IC in ability etc) so it's nothing set in stone. Basically most of the fight can be free form, but at key moments (mine guess would be after 3 ems or so) both people roll a die one time. The winner of the roll would then be guaranteed either a solid hit (not necessarily fatal) or a guaranteed dodge from the next blow. For example!  Say (I'm using Niks character as a example) Aaron and Nik were fighting, and throughout the free form Aaron was dominating but Nik won the dice roll. The battle would then have a scene something like this.

^ For those that dont watch bleach ill make this easy. The Blue haired guy throughout the whole battle was kicking orange haired guys ass (Example Aaron and Nik) however Nik wins a dice roll so therefore he would get a scenario akin to the above with Nik landing a game changing blow.Â
Now it doesn't always have to be equals or something fighting that this method will be useful. It's to show the weaker one has at least a tiny bit of potential and the bigger guy can't say he's unstoppable. Now there could be an instance where it IS two evenly matched fighters but over time the stamina etc of one could wear out (if you keep getting bad dice rolls) and they eventually lose but not without giving some blows. Now my normal limit is 1 dice roll every 3-4 freeform emotes and first person to 3 dice wins wins the fight whether the freeform was easy or your stronger opponent just gives up and lets you live lol. Now you CAN alter these statistics anyway you want if it's needed (The stronger opponent needs only one dice roll win to knock you the fuck out or the weaker needs four while the stronger needs two.)
This is all just my general outline and I may have missed a few things to add which if anyone has questions ill probably answer.
So, what y'all think?
