An Important Note:

With the introduction of Fate-14 2.0 revision, I will be moving over to the revised system. Updates to character sheets shouldn’t be hard and I can help with those.

Rumors: These things are public knowledge.

 • The Alchemist Guild has cancelled all material requests pending investigation into member activity.
 • Conjurers from Gridania are baffled by the creature brought to their attention by a group of skilled adventurers: a treant infused with the essence of coblyns.
 • A small population of mandragora sporting single, massive eyes in the centers of their heads has emerged. When one specimen was captured by an enterprising adventurer, it displayed intense aggression towards the naturalist wishing to study it.
 • Children abducted by qiqirn recently were rescued with no loss of life. The families in Highbridge are thankful to the adventurers who came to help.

Story Aspects:

Important notes regarding Noirzea:

With the introduction of Fate-14 2.0 revision, I will be moving over to the revised system. Updates to character sheets shouldn’t be hard and I can help with those.

Additionally, I will be adopting the “turn” system that Verad is using for Merchant, Marine. A full explanation will follow.

Rumors: (public knowledge)

 • The one, and only, Vylbrandi Chocobo has finally been found. Monetarist, Kokoripu Hohoripu unveiled the treasure during an art auction, where it was sold to the highest bidder. He has not made public who that bidder is.

Events:

The Final Act (Wednesday, January 11th, 9:30 pm Central time)

1. Leanne

2. Virara

3. Arblis

4. Malin Greaves

Reserve:

Wealthy monetarist, Fufutilo Keketilo, was found dead in his bed this morning. Brass Blades have already begun investigating the incident but have refrained from releasing any information to the public.

One of his servants, Delicate Fern, begs for third party involvement. The Brass Blades, however, do not appreciate the idea of adventurer interference.

Highbridge Kidnappings (Saturday, January 14th, 4:00 pm Central time)

1. S'imba Tia

2. Anstarra

3. Zanzan

4. Kiht/Qara?

Reserve: Rini Kett

Numerous children in the settlement of Highbridge have gone missing. Investigators are requested for aid: anyone who can locate their children before it’s too late. Brass Blades have been searching, but have yet to turn up any clues regarding the location of the missing children.

Turn System:

This system was taken from Verad, who himself adapted it from a different system. I like how it has been working for him so much that I’m going to start using it myself!.

Forewarned is forearmed, and preparation is an important part of any adventurer's long-term survival. However, there's only so much time in a day to find out important information before going into an event. Even the most powerful magician, richest Monetarist, and strongest warrior has to contend with the rise and fall of the sun.

To represent the issue of limited time in a storyline between events, a modified version of the Turn system from the Guild-Fate (or Seasons) FC management system, by Halren Rhalsgard, will be used to limit the amount of actions players can take between events. Actions will be broken down into one of three categories, with a different turn value for each:

Prepare

Cost: 1 Turn

Prepare actions involve single characters gaining advantages to improve their own chances of success. These actions are performed on their own time, and often require little personal investment on the characters' part.

Common Prepare actions include looking for/making new equipment, getting consequences healed, hiring help for a future event, or in the case of ship-based events repairing damages and replacing crew.

Research/Investigate

Cost: 2 Turns

Some actions take a lengthier time commitment because they require the character to spend a lot of time reading books, talking to old contacts, or piecing together clues. Attempts to take actions involving the Lore, Investigate, and Contacts skills in particular are considered research actions. However, these actions can often yield information and results critical to resolving a plot.

In general, actions that take suggest a long period of time to work like the skills above indicate a Research/Investigate. Actions that require multiple different skills to work are also candidates. It's possible for a simple Prepare action to become a Research/Investigate as the situation becomes more complicated.

Discussion

Cost: 2 Turns

Getting together to pool information with other players requires some organization and time spent gathering everyone in one place, in addition to the actual RP scene itself. No rolls are needed for a Discussion.

Discussions indicate fairly large gatherings of characters, at least four or more. If you need to coordinate everyone's schedules OOC, it's a Discussion. No rolls are necessary.

Act

Cost: 3/4 Turns

Why wait for the DM to come up with events all the time? This is supposed to be a proactive system, and you're adventurers! You don't always have time to wait for other people to cause problems for you to solve. Get out there and cause problems of your own!

Acting indicates that you want to organize an event outside of the usual list that come with sign ups. The cost varies based on the size of the event. Small events with no more than three players cost 3 Turns. Larger ones that would be the size of a normal event, up to four to six players, cost 4 turns. Make sure everybody's schedules are clear for this - especially the DM!

Restrictions

There are only a few restrictions on being able to use Turns to prepare outside of events, as follows:

Characters who have signed up for events marked as TRAVEL events cannot perform actions - they are too busy getting to the event itself.

There are only a limited number of Turns to be used in each round, collectively shared between all members of the plot. Turn usage will be tracked in the sign-up thread, but once they're gone, you're out of time.

Turns do not guarantee success - they give you a chance at success.

New Rumor (public knowledge)

A certain miqo'te named Anstarra Silverain is in the market for a buyer. What's she selling? The Vylbrandi Chocobo, of course!

New Plot Aspect: /Adventurers Respected by Highbridge Populace/

The citizens of Highbridge have been facing tough times, lately. However, time and again, adventurers have come to their aid. They are more inclined to be friendly towards those of the profession until such a time as someone abuses that trust.

Note:

I came across a situation where the things S'imba wanted to do weren't really "investigation" but the results were on par with that sort of action. I'm calling it an "act" even though it doesn't create an event to run. Since it is equivalent in time investment to a Research, it uses two turns.

Important notes regarding Noirzea:

I’ve had some players comment that they haven’t been a part of the plot and so they don’t know where to begin with getting involved. I’ve been including a list of “rumors” for several posts, and one of the major benefits of these rumors is that they help new players get involved.

You don’t have to be part of the story from start to finish: these rumors can be your way in. Anyone who has any desire to be a part of this plot may, if they desire, know what is included in this list.

Rumors: (public knowledge)

 • The one, and only, Vylbrandi Chocobo has finally been found. Monetarist, Kokoripu Hohoripu, unveiled the treasure during an art auction, where it was sold to the highest bidder. He has not made public who that bidder is.
 • A certain miqo'te named Anstarra Silverain is in the market for a buyer. What's she selling? The Vylbrandi Chocobo, of course!
 • The sole surviving cultist from a group responsible for the death of three children in Highbridge is in Brass Blade custody. Citizens are grateful to the adventurers who rescued the two children, but many are in mourning for those who could not be saved.
 • Gridanian naturalists are uncertain how to classify the new strain of mandragora, a highly aggressive type of seedkin with a single large eye in the center of their heads. It seems to have a breeding population. There have been no further sightings of the coblyn-treant hybrid.
 • Monetarist, Fufutilo Keketilo, is dead. The Ossuary is in the process of enacting his will. There are rumors that his death was unnatural.

Story Aspects:

Like all aspects, Story Aspects can be used via a FP by anyone, even those not responsible for its creation.

Every Coin has Two Sides

Ahriman All About: (specifically, Thanalan)

Adventurers Respected by Highbridge Populace

Events:

No Longer Ignored (Tuesday, January 24, 9:30 pm Central time)

1. Hihisa Hisa

2. Kiht Jakkya

3. Zanzan Yanzan

4. Khira Lhizahla

Reserve: Arblis Elhis

The surviving children from the Highbridge tragedy have been questioned by the local Brass Blades. They spoke of the sound of wings flapping after each sacrifice, and Blades assume the cultists were calling Voidsent for some nefarious purpose.

Eager to place the blame, they have decided the unusually large quantity of Ahriman in Thanalan are somehow responsible. The Ahriman population, which has hitherto been a mischievous nuisance at worst, can no longer be ignored.

The Missing Goldsmith (Saturday, January 28, 3:00 pm Central time)

1. Anstarra Silverain

2. Jana Ridah

3. W'Chaza Yheli

4. S'imba Tia

Reserve: Rini Kett

Note: This posting does not occur IC until one day before the event.

The Goldsmith guild is sponsoring an urgent leve. Madeline Reed was traveling from Ul’dah to Gridania by way of the Royal Allagan Sunway, to put on a display of her work, but she has not arrived in Highbridge at the expected time. The guild fears that she may have been waylaid by bandits. Any information regarding her whereabouts will satisfy the leve, though locating the missing goldsmith is the ultimate goal.
