Spiral is an Roleplay Heavy Free Company with a gritty central narrative that focuses on consequential decision-making and character development. Grounded in a realistic presentation of FFXIV, friends and foes will be complex creatures with their own interests and motives.

Outwardly, Spiral poses as the “Owl House”, an adventurer sanctuary focused on recuperation, food service, entertainment, and relaxation. Patrons of cabarets and dinner parties, along with the regular business of intensive care and physical therapy, fund the secretive operations of Spiral.

 

 

 

Out of Character, Spiral is in search of serious role-players who are motivated by character development, with an emphasis on intricate storytelling. Potential applicants should enjoy navigating ethical dilemmas, and play characters suited to the morally complex and gray world Spiral faces. Free Company story events are typically oriented toward combat, investigation, and careful dialogue. Members are required to make a skillsheet for Spiral’s custom combat system, developed to be straightforward and approachable for players unfamiliar with RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons.

To join, you must complete an application and detail the core aspects of your character, as well as answer questions that will give Spiral a feel for prospects’ preferences, goals, and expectations. Upon an application’s acceptance, a Spiral Officer will contact prospects via Discord to discuss and plan the IC process of recruitment.

 

In-game, prospects will receive a mysterious letter from Spiral’s unknown benefactor. The information on the application is especially important for this purpose, as the letter will be detailed with what is provided. In addition to each letter being personalized to each prospect, the letter will set the tone for a character’s joining. After the letter is received in-character, a date, time, and setting will be set for an interview.

Other recruitment methods may be negotiated: character’s need not receive a letter if another rationale suits them. Spiral is happy to collaborate with prospects to determine suitable IC arrangements.
