[edit] Biographical Information Abilities View of the World History Relationships Inspiration for Costia Acknowledgements General Given Name: Costia Demora Pronunciation: [COS-Te-ah Day-mor-ah] Nicknames: None Place of Birth: Unknown [1] It was never revealed to her where she was born, Her parents believe in the Life Stream. Current Residence: Typically traveling, however now has a room in the Crystalline HQ in the Lavender Beds. Employer: Crystalline Marital Status: Engaged to Alex Windfist Appearance Height: 5 fulms 11 ilms Weight: Average for her height Body: Well toned, most likely associated with her regular training regiment. Hair: Black Hair that is often untamed by brush or comb. She has a tendency to tie it up in some fashion. Eyes: Brown. Skin: Naturally Dark Skinned. Scars and Markings: She has a small beauty mark under her left eye, other than that she bares some scars underneath the article of clothing she wears. Nothing drastic, just typical wear and tear for someone of her chosen path. Clothing: Costia enjoys wearing feminine clothing when the situation arises, however she more commonly seen wearing heavy armor that conceals much of her form. Typically she wears full plate, adorn in some regal color. She seems to prefer white as a choice of color, yet she can sometimes be seen sporting more gaudy metals like gold to a battlefield. She can almost always be seen carrying a longsword who's metal was forged from a green ore that gives it an ethereal appearance when clashed against other blades. She had dubbed the weapon 'The Stream Cutter'. Voice: Her voice is feminine yet it does have an accent that would be unfamiliar to those who've resided in Eorzea most their life. Since she does not know her origins, its assumed the accent was picked up by her mother since Costia was isolated from Gridania. Physical Training Excels in Swordplay, armored and unarmored, with or without a shield. 1Handed Swords. Moderately adverse in Grappling, armored and unarmored Preferences/Strengths: Costia having been trained initially as a Sultansworn, had separated herself from their cause and deviated into the path which some dub as a Free Paladin. Taking the understanding of Sword and Shield, she utilizes a combat art that requires her to play a tad more defensively then others. Her primary function with this style of art is to tire out her opponent and then move into strike when openings are made. She is in a sense made for long drawn out conflicts and excels in such situations. Since she studies night and day with her sword 'The Stream Breaker' she has learned though to be more offensive when without her bulwark of a shield. She utilizes wards meant to aid her defense as well as hinder her opponents more aggressive strikes. Currently she is studying in Limsa Lominsa the technique of fencing to define her form in a more elegant manner. Aversions/Weaknesses: Where she excels in individual contests of strength, she seems to stumble when faced with multiple opponents. Her form of swordplay is meant to take down big threats, not many little ones and thus she can easily be overcome by sheer numbers. This is something that she is working on, hence the further study in Limsa Lominsa to aid her with her speed and footwork. Magical Training Excels in Defensive Wards Understands the Basics of Conjury Moderate training in Astral Aetherial Practices Learning Umbral Aetherial Practices Preferences/Strengths: Costia having been once a former Arcanist does have understanding of how Umbral and Astral conduits work. Since she abandoned the practice to undergo her discipline of sword play she utilizes said understanding to conjure forth 'Wards'. These wards can provide her resistance against the Elements as well as Hostile Magics, and even Physical attacks. She is currently also studying a means to further her understanding of the Aetherial paths of Astral and Umbral a study she started to under go during a situation with the House of Felstar and not soon after John Spiegel had freed her from her restrictions. Aversions/Weaknesses: She has a disadvantage with Aetherial Currents that are drawn from the 'Void'. Her wards have great difficulty protecting herself from their draw and not only this, since she has spread herself thin in multiple studies she tends to over complicate matters when trying to draw forth her own Aether to conjure forth offensive magics. May be a reason she does not do this often if at all at this juncture. Crafting & Gathering Culinary Botany Culinary Love! There is no greater love for Costia then creating homemade goods for her and the family she has come to love. Though not professionally trained she has a great understanding of herbs which brings a great importance to the food she creates. Herbs & more Herbs! Long before she met Alex and found out he too loved to gather from the wilds of the world, she found foraging fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables a rather delightful hobby. Her hobby became something of great importance to her as she now utilizes her love for the wilds to forge wonderful foods which she privately and typically only shares with her family. Law, Order, Justice the Three Pinnacles of Demora's Beliefs I feel it is important to describe the beliefs of which Costia holds dear and take a moment to explain how it is she views the world around her. This is pivital to her as a character as it will help bring understanding to some of the things she says and some of the things she does.) LAW - Costia's belief in law stems from the fact that the world of man (loose terminology) has constructed law to keep peace, yet she finds those very laws at their core righteous and true. Though because of this she devalues them when the Grand Companies themselves do not follow through the uphold them. Thus she often times takes it upon herself to find a means of exposing this or in return attempts to correct the grave injustice that has been delivered. Sometimes the way she does this may not be ethical by the standards of the Governing bodies but her intent it always just. ORDER - Law is meant to bring Order to the world of Chaos, and for her Chaos must be driven out so that Law itself can succeed. Where she saw such chaos was in Uldah during her time with the Sultansworn. She identified that the wealthy created a system of corruption, pushing gil to create 'law' that benefited them and yet subjected others to mistreatment's. She believes that it is that sort of system that is broken, and thus it often can be seen in how she proceeds forward through her life. Often times she takes the Highroad and she comes short, and other times its the same Highroad that she takes that brings forth renewed faith in Law. She does believe that Order and Law mean two seperate things and that Order is the First Step rather then the Second to Law. JUSTICE - Justice, The world itself is the end result to what Law and Order are meant to bring. Yet the word itself is defined differently by those who've managed to craft the laws in which all people are meant to follow. She often finds that it is the weak and meager that suffer from the so-called justice in which the laws of the land dictate and so she in return often times finds herself reaching out to correct the injustices laid out upon such people. An example of this would be a child stealing a piece of bread and then being punished soon afterward. She see's the moral implications behind the problem as being the real issue, that the Child is starving and trying to survive while the merchant's belly is large and full from the short comings of those less fortunate. She believes strongly that those who can give should give, and those who can't should strive to do better. She certainly is in a place of gray on this matter and it's best to ask her personally for this to have clarity. Faith Costia does not believe in the Twelve.In fact she closely emulates an atheist and yet perhaps at closer examination she may be more agnostic then anything. She certainly has faith that there is something beyond them, and views nothing as 'incorrect'. She see's the value in those who have faith in the Twelve, or other emulations of divine beings. She herself though does not press knee to the ground and pray. She leaves her hopes, her fears, her faith on those she surrounds herself with. This may be a reflection on her parents whom had a rare broad view of the world around them. Early Life Family Fiancé - Alex Windfist Some may not consider this 'family' yet but Costia has always viewed Alex as family and thus he is. They met over a year ago in Gridania where Alex and Costia have ever since been loyal to one and another. She asked him to marry her. Mother - Elina Demora Deceased. Elina Demora was a well versed Arcanist whom dabbled in darker arts and yet enjoyed the company of the Beastmen rather then that of Civilization. Her heart was tamed by Father - Dalzic Demora Deceased. Dalzic Demora was the opposite of Elina Demora. He was a Brave Highlander who served under the Banner of Limsa Lominsa during the Awakening of the Elder Primal Bahamut. He was found dead as well as those he commanded and for the longest time it was believed that Elina Demora had been his executioner. Later truth would have it that he died because of a group known as the Oracles of Empyrean. Siblings - Unknown Costia can only assume she has no brothers or sisters. Her mother was often away when she became a teenager. Friends and Acquaintances Ki'lari Yashiax - Wierd Relationship she has had with Ki'lari. They met over a year ago and since then she has viewed Ki'lari as a figure within her small circle of family. The two of them often times butted heads over the many moons they interracted and yet when push comes to shove she knows Ki'lari has her back and she knows Ki'lari understands that sentiment is also given in return. Eva Ianeira - Eva was the person to take her into Crystalline, The person that guided her with Moral Growth, the person that scolded her for her short comings and the Person she has come to admire as a friend, a close one. One she regards to be truthful and one that she knows will stay true to themselves. Eva did give her the Company, and thus entrusted her with the burden. John Spiegel - Future Father-in-law. She admires John though does not always condone his actions. She is the first to chastise him for his inexcusable behavior yet would be standing right there along with his children in his defense. In many ways Costia view's John as a fatherly figure. Jariana Rinjahl - New acquaintance, Costia has had little interaction yet entrusted her to Ki'laris team and was given a wonderful Starlight gift from her. She knows that Jariana wishes to spar and has welcomed the invitation. Grace Windfist - Soon to be Sister-in-law. Costia and Grace have always had a odd relationship, yet still Costia views her like a sister and would stand beside her in their darkest times. Enemies This section is for miscellaneous things that have either helped forge the idea of Costia as a PC as well as fun little things I associate with her as a growing character.
