Hydaelyn Role-Players

Hello, I'm a very new player to FFXIV, I have played a total of one day and gotten level 23 on a server but realized through communication that Balmung is the main RP server that I am looking for.  I love to be social and be involved in social events that require thought and interaction.

----My RP Experience


I am decently new to RP on some aspects, I have RPed a large amount on the community of IMVU in forms of casual, erotic and combat.  I am much more interested in the RP style of casual and erotic.


I am not sure if my class selection or anything is taken into factor in this aspect, but I plan to play a dark knight, Au Ra or Hyur. Looking to mainly get involved in a dark/erotic/casual style of RP. (If there are any groups out there interested in recruiting me, just send me a message here)


I do have experience in many aspects of RP but have never experienced any form of RP in FFXIV. I plan to be a Light-Medium RPer, I have not made a character on Balmung yet, but when I plan to I will use the name "Tatsu Wakahisa"  If that does not work I will try another name.

Welcome! Many of us here will doubtless have some hints and tips for you, so I'll just start.

Though not every bit of RP is going to come through these forums, take some time to look through the Linkshell and Free Company listings. This will not only give you an idea of what's out there, but also who to look for, and the sorts of things that go on in the community.

Also, be sure to cruise the RP event forums. There are lots of events that encourage public attendance, and they are a good chance to meet people in the community and see what it's like. Looking to see what's around is going to be your first step in finding what you want.

In game terms, you have to get your character past 50 and into Ishgard to take on the Dark Knight class, so don't skip out on your leveling if that is your goal.

Finally, cruise the RP forums, and especially check out the Tonberry's Lantern area - this place will give you a good sampling of the kinds of IC shenanigans that the community has going on.

I do certainly plan to make it to 50+ atleast before I begin my RP Adventure.   
I am in no rush and will find the perfect community that I can call home when possible!

I also know very little about the game itself and plan to take plenty of time to learn and understand the aspects of the game itself.

Can I ask why you feel it necessary to indicate the Erotic part? There are FC's based around casual ERP, but I don't think any of them advertise on here.

I don't have anything against it, but it does seem a rather narrow focus.

That is a partial form of roleplay that I am involved in, and I am unsure on how the community works with that, so I am being more specific by indicating Erotic.

While ERP isn't taboo on these forums, most people tend to view it like cookies and ice cream. A sometimes food. You're welcome to rp what you like, but i doubt you'll make too many erp connections on here.

I do not plan to limit my only RP to ERP, but I am certainly pointing out the fact that I am very interested in that form of roleplay.  It may not be the most popular, but it is not the only thing I am interested in.  The future may change things but I am new to FFXIV aswell as the RP that revolves around that.   If there is another way of pointing out that I am interested in ERP other than involving the word "Erotic"  please inform me. (I am NOT new to RP, just new to RP on FFXIV)

The "erotic" part got edited into the title after the original post, as noticed in Merc's Telluride

@OP  There are classifieds on Darknest and a linkshell for this sort of thing that caters to it much better than the RPC can. Try googling that and browse, you'll probably find what you're looking for.

Ah I get it!

Well the sort of 'code word' that most people use on this game is 'Mature RP' which can mean a lot of things, but generally means 'I'm open for sex to happen during rp'.

If most people see erotic they tend to think the character is just for erp and hooksups and such.

I do not know much about FFXIV, nor the community but I figured that posting in the Welcome Section, might put some attention on me and maybe an ERP group.. (linkshell?) would send me a message!

Balmung has a bit of a record as being compared to Goldshire or other infamous deviant holes in games, so a lot of us here are sensitive to the "ERP Bait" side of people not minding if RP ends up with sexytime attached. There's a lot (like seriously, a lot) of people calling themselves roleplayers who are only interested in e-fucking, and it's caused no end of identity and association issues for lots of people.

It's not bad, but we're used to folks clearly marking themselves in such a way to react in specific ways. You're on this website, though, and not just lingering in the Quicksand with <Futa Fuccboi Succubus Waifu> as a search comment, but it's certainly a stand-out in introduction compared to the usual sly wink.

To be truthful, a lot of us here probably need to get laid.

I think some people just jumped to conclusions. Welcome to the forums, like I said there isn't much pure erp on here, but I'm sure you can find people to connect with.

Lots of people on this site do ERP, but they tend to be rather... secretive about it.

I don't think they were trying to 'shame' anyone, it's just a touchy subject for most RP communities.
I engage in ERP myself, though not for several months since, as others have said, it is not my focus.

Haha, I am a open book and no reason to keep secrets, hopefully others involved in the ERP style will come out of the wood works and stop being shy or fear of judgement.

It is quite a shame that I wont even be able to create a character until around 3-5am est...
