The Mystery of the Haunted Cave (Semi - Open) - McBeefâ„¢ - 04-23-2015 (Let me know if you think you might be involved in this story.) Evangeline weaves through the crowds, surly and irritable in the summer heat. "What kind of fools built a city in a damnable desert." The streets here are tight and twisting, and unlike the richer areas, unplanned. Space is at a premium within the walls, and it could be divided into two categories, the great orderly streets and mansions of the rich and royal, and the spaces and cracks between their enclaves. This is one such crack, a narrow curving strip between two great merchant manors. Many times the Blades had been sent in to clean the place out, but like water, the residents simply flowed back after every sweep. Through this maze of dusty alleys, ramshackle buildings and suffocating crowds, Evangeline struggles, thankful for once of her Elezen height letting her see over the heads of most. Looking at the roughly scrawled piece of paper she turns down a side street, hopping over a particularly ornery looking cat, and turning sideways to squeeze through, her jacket scraping over rough stucco. Finally she emerges, finding herself in a slightly nicer area, the streets, while not wide or ornamented, were at least paved with stone. Taking a moment to gain her bearing she continues, walking towards a squat rectangular building, which seems to have seen better days. A stylized engraving of a lantern hangs over the wide double doors. One whole side of the building is sacrificed to accommodate a large chocobo loading dock, and several crates lie nearby. Evangeline takes a deep breath, shouldering her satchel, before pushing open the doors and entering the Ul'dah headquarters of the Tonberry's Lantern. RE: The Mystery of the Haunted Cave (Semi - Open) - GloryRhodes - 04-24-2015 "That was not a vacation!" "Good, then pay me." Â Spahro crossed her arms and glared at the lalafell who signed her paychecks. Â or had signed her paychecks. Â Apparently going missing for several months can get a girl fired, but Spahro was having absolutely none of that. Â "If it wasn't an unpaid vacation then you'd better pay me for all the work I did or I'm going to sue you until your eyes bleed." Titileo, the editor of Tonberry's Lantern, was an extremely fat lalafell with wet eyes and a huge mustache. Â he also hated paying for anything. Â "You vanished for several months without word, and now you've just shown up for work acting as if nothing's ever happened." "Yeah, thanks for the exposition boss, where's my desk? Â Did you sell my desk? Â I refuse to work at Twin's desk, she's always got it covered in grease and genital stains." Just then the door opened and Spahro stepped in front of Titileo, throwing her arms wide, "Whatever it was, I didn't do, it! Â I haven't even been here for four mo- Â Eva! Â How's my favorite anarchist? Â What can you pay me to do for you today?" RE: The Mystery of the Haunted Cave (Semi - Open) - McBeefâ„¢ - 04-27-2015 Evangeline blinks, having heard some of the conversation outside. "What Miss Spahro wants to say is that it wasn't a vacation, it was..." Evangeline clears her throat, lowering her voice an octave in an attempt to look suitably mysterious. "A secret undercover investigation." "So secret, she couldn't even tell you. But when the story comes out, it will make this paper the most famous periodical in Eorzea." The Lalafell scoffs, "I find that hard to believe, and we already got rid of her desk, hired a replacement even." Evangeline pulls a random assortment of papers from her satchel, trying to hide the fact that they are her political flyers, "Well then, we'll just have to sell this to the Mithril Eye then..." Titileo blanches, "Those two bit liers? They've been beating me out in sales ever since that Hildibrand nonsense." "Just give us one week, to finish the story, agreed?" The Lalafell nods slowly, "One week? Fine, I'll pay her wages for a week, but if the story doesn't sell... then it will be the last gil she sees from me." Evangeline nods gratefully, "Spahro, I'll be outside, you can finish working out the details." She slips outside and leans against the rough stone of the building. RE: The Mystery of the Haunted Cave (Semi - Open) - GloryRhodes - 04-29-2015 Spahro did finish working out the details, mainly through yelling and horrible curse words. Â She would be getting a new desk, and it would have actual drawers this time. Â She stepped out of the offices of Tonberry's Lantern feeling rather proud of herself. Â "Eva! Â You have the best timing, you know that? Â I was about to have to whip out the blackmail, and I really wanted to save that for when he was looking to sell the paper." She sidled up alongside the Elezen, smiling. Â "So, what's this all about? Â Did something great happen? Â I heard something about Ishgardians and a museum, but..." Â Spahro leaned in close, "Were you bluffing? Â If you were bluffing then I'm going to have to do actual work, and I really wanted something easy for my first job back." |
