EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Threndual - 06-23-2015 To keep things as short and sweet as I can, basically I just started playing FFXIV again for the first time since launch and at the moment I'm playing on the Moogle EU server however there is no RP there as far as I can tell. I tried finding an old website that was around during launch specifically for EU RPers and found the site had been taken down so that got me wondering if people just stopped RPing or did they move to the NA servers? So basically, are there many EU players RPing over on the NA servers? I ask 'cause I don't wanna end up playing on a server where the time difference makes RP incredibly awkard unless there's at least a few others in the same boat asme E.G. me having to go to bed when it's the middle of the afternoon for you lot. I'd go and check it out for myself but as I'm still pretty new to the game (I never got far at launch, like level 12 at most) I reckon it'll be easier and faster to ask here. RE: EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Kurt S. - 06-23-2015 Dude there are a number of active EU based guilds in Balmung, not to mention the odd EU friendly events that happen. You're in good hands in Balms. Still the majority of the population are NA based, but luckily for you, there are several Europeans keeping track of this site and active in game. At least you're not trapped in an Asian timezone RE: EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Cailean Lockwood - 06-23-2015 I'm European and I play on Balmung. There's always people on Balmung and you can almost always find someone to RP with. ^^ RE: EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Blue - 06-23-2015 Italian here, also playing on Balmung (though I'm in a NA-centered RP group, so I tend to adjust to their time zones); these days I'm playing on European daytime hours though. RE: EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Amielle - 06-23-2015 There are always plenty of people playing in my evening (UK time), and people are really nice.  It's a little quieter with the Heavensward release as people level, but there's still RP to be found! RE: EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Gaspard - 06-23-2015 Likewise European. Balmung isn't really the 'North American' RP server, even if it is titled such. There's a huuuuge amount of European and other over-seas players present on Balmung. Usually, the No.1 RP servers are multi-national. And as the others mentioned, there are even active and running EU linkshells aswell as FC's. One RP-FC with huge EU focus is The Kindred, followed by the Europa linkshell (Though I'm not sure if that one is still active) RE: EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Rosamund - 06-23-2015 There's plenty of us here! Check out the European Directory for events, linkshells and FCs that play at EU-friendly hours. That said, one of the perks to being on an NA realm is you can find RP pretty much any time of the day and night, since the NA players are still awake during our mornings and coming home from work/school in our evenings. Just be careful you don't stay up too late! RE: EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Lekka Meyren - 06-23-2015 Also EU, My main group is mostly american, but with their different timezones there's almost always someone on, and many of the events I'm able to attend comfortably. Another upside now that the servers are constantly struggling is that as an EU player on a "Us" server, you can actually log in and play. RE: EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Nebbs - 06-23-2015 There is a great EU presence, some formed EU based LS/FC and others merge with NA base ones and simply spread the times. And not just UK people there is a lot of folks where English is not their first language. Check out the [European Directory] RE: EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Meena - 06-23-2015 I'm from New Zealand, and I'm on balmung. There are people from all sorts of timezones here. RE: EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Cato - 06-24-2015 There's quite a lot of European role-players on Balmung though we're all rather scattered which can give the false impression that there aren't many of us at all. There's at least one European Linkshell that I know of - Europa - and then there's a handful of guilds that host events during hours that are more easily accessible to both NA and EU players. It's worth noting - for the sake of fairness - that networking with other European role-players can be rather difficult. Some individuals will offer to role-play at some point, add you to their friend's list and then never actually get around to contacting you again. The reasons for this vary and sometimes it isn't anyone's fault but it's happened enough that I feel that it's well worth bringing up. RE: EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh - Threndual - 06-24-2015 Thanks all for the answers! I do believe I'll have to pop over and make a character on Balmung soon, I intend to keep my character on the EU servers though for general game play and stuff as I've found a very friendly FC and I couldn't bare to just leave it. Now the hard part commences, deciding on a Race / Job combo for role play! Personally when it comes to choosing the race/class combo for RP I tend to pick the least role played race with the least played class as I find it adds a bit of variety to RP rather than everyone being say a Human Paladin. Maybe a Lalafell or Roegadyn ... I imagine there's loads of Hyurs and Miqo'tes as it is. I would suggest just playing what appeals to you but SE did do a census for 2014 with a breakdown of race, gender, etc popularity if that helps you choose at all.
