That's fine. Us NPCs have made it this far on our own, I think we'll be just fine. Just don't whine when we in turn treat you like a ridiculous, delusional asshat that believes themselves to be bad fanfic-tier levels of powerful.

Not that there's anything wrong with playing an amped-up, powerful character, but I think I could do without that high-and-mighty attitude, thanks.

I think some of the toxicity present here comes from the ironically high and mighty attitude that some "humble" RPers tend to display.

That's not an excuse, but I will say that I think this notion of the overpowered Mary Sue characters being a scourge upon the community is kind of a strawman. To be perfectly honest, I see far less of those players than I do players who elect to be extraordinarily nitpicky about every character that isn't their own.
