2. Fencer
3. Beastmaster
4. Geomancer
5. Time Mage or some kind of hard support class.Â
But seriously, just give me thief and I'll be happy.
Edit: Speaking of Fencer and 1.0 DAT files; there was also the file for Shepard in there which I hope they end up turning into a Beastmaster class. I don't think those two files exist in the 2.0 beta files that we have seen so far though.
And god I could I forget Time Mage and Geomancer. Time mage would make an excellent CC class.
Beastmaster could charm/tame most monsters in the wild which was extremely helpful and the only class that was capable of any decent form of soloing as fighting anything above a tough on any job was basically a form of suicide (you could check monsters levels and they come back as too weak, easy prey, even match, tough, very touch, incredibly tough, depending on your level and theirs). Heck, soloing a tough was pretty damn risky and very difficult. They also had items that could summon special forms of monsters that leveled alongside the beastmaster. I only got my beastmaster to the mid 50's though as my charms sometimes missed monsters and then they would get upset and kill me. I couldn't handle the constant death, hahaha, but I really did enjoy the class.Â
And yes, Bard was way better in XI. It was a very heavy support class that could cast AoE songs that ranged from sleep, regening hp and mp (it was necessary to have a class that could regen everyones mp), increase attack/spell power/accuracy, and weaken monsters to certain elements. You could only have two songs on the enemy and two on the party though.
Playing the class was all about positioning as you wanted your casters to have MP refresh and your melee to have attack power up/accuracy up/whatever and your songs only had a certain range from your body. So you had to keep up two songs on everyone (separating people into small groups since most buff songs were AoE and you didn't want to give melee MP refresh) which wore off after a few minutes, then sometimes had to pull monsters in between all of that, helping with back up heals if your sub job was a white mage, and occasionally doing a bit of crowd control if monsters linked together when you pulled them back to camp.. And some people on the beta forums say that there was no strategy and skill in XI

Bards were way weaker in XI than in XIV and had basically no real DPS output, but I remember PvPing against one and he was a giant pain in the ass. He was a Bard/Red Mage and would weaken me against elements (like earth) and then disable and debuff the hell out of me xD (casting slow which is an earth based debuff). Overall I definitely think bard in XI was a lot better than what we have now, but I am slightly biased as I love playing support classes.
