Squeenix doesn't allow the use of a lot of the symbols, sadly. It bothers the hell out of me, because I prefer to use the triple mix in a varied pattern...and I can't with Squeenix. Given that you can just copy and paste your password into the launcher, I suggest using a separate program to store your passwords in an encrypted manner. You can then use whatever hideously long password you want for FFXIV without issue! It'll be as safe as can be, even if you're not able to use the symbols you normally would.
