I met my real life partner through role-play back in WoW, so I'd say that's my most memorable and favourite role-play related experience. We first met on the realm forum after identifying a shared interest in gritty blood elves, so we organised some role-play together and clicked on an IC and OOC level.
We'd stay awake for hours and never tired of interacting with each other, with our characters travelling Azeroth together and hunting down threats that opposed their homeland. This lasted for a good few years before we eventually got bored of Blizzard's increasingly questionable decisions and repeated attempts to water down each of the playable races.
We've since tackled other MMO's together and are currently planning to invest in the Elder Scrolls MMO that's due to launch in a couple of months. We've dabbled in role-play in FFXIV together as well which has been fun.
