But I seem to recall a dev post a while back explaining the origins of the Allagan armor. Basically, it said that the armor we get out of Binding Coil is what Allagan foot soldiers would have worn, whereas the High Allagan armor was something that would've only been worn by Officers, Royals, and people of stature serving in the army. While that dev post was way before 2.4's time obviously, maybe we can draw from that and hypothesize that Final Coil's armor were "ceremonial" outfits, possibly? Maybe something that Allagan Royals only wore to like military balls or coronation ceremonies or weddings, etc. Cuz I mean... look at those sets. All of them are long flowing robes, with minimal armor present. The armor that is present is ornate and polished. Bits of gold and such are inlaid into the fabric. The Paladin is wearing what looks like a crown for instance, while the BLM has some strange looking hat. And don't forget the Bahamut wing motif. That's definitely not functional. |
