Combining a few character ideas with Fated to make her seem more fit for a Dark Knight.
Basically, she would be older, and run an orphanage somewhere before it got burnt and she went to the dark side.

Machinist is what Madda's been waiting for! Madda loves Madda some machinery.

What if we got a bunch of future Machinist characters to stage a Strategic Repurposing of some Garlean tech and started our own Ironworks?

Might be cool.

Meh, im not all that big on machine classes and all that. Reminds me of the movie robots.

I like DRK too, but im not gonna main it if even use it. I'll probably stick to Rogue.

Im curious to how people will rp these classes, i might take interest in them afterwards.

If the gun class dual wielded smaller 9mm shaped guns and had darker themes id probably had been more psyched.

Meh only time will tell. Still interested in the lore tho!

I am toying with the idea of incorporating astrologian concepts into my existing character's roleplay. Just how I manage that will depend on the lore around the class and behind its abilities, but what little we do know if it has some really exciting parallels to the somewhat superstitious, symbol-heavy medicine I've got partially constructed for my character.

Looking at the gun class video and seeing how unrealistic this game has been with them so far, I'm wagering the medium-length gun will have some attacks using it like a rifle and some like a handgun. I'd imagine we're going to get attacks like "loads a shotgun shell" and "fires lots of bullets automatically" too. It's not dual-wielding Desert Eagles or anything like that, so I'm quite content.

I'm definitely going to incorporate machinist into my character, maybe using guns at least, I'm not sure if he'd be an actual like.. engineer for them or not. Just using them.

But I really want to have him based around Astrologian, and the most I can see is that it's healing, celestial, and tarot card related. I know I can't have him actually be one now adn that I have to wait until the expansion actually comes out (or at least some lore).

Do you think it's acceptable to start him off as just some sort of like. Streetly fortune teller that makes money by giving people readings with tarot cards? Just a thought.

I think thats an amazing start to a character. Personally for Nako I will be having him learning to use the powers of an astrologian, given he loves learning all things magical.

Makes sense. Perhaps he's just tapped into divination without thinking about how it's access to a greater power that could perhaps help others far better than giving out nice messages to people on a street corner.

I like it! :D

I RP Weaver as an ex Astrologer, so I tried my best to glean lore from that region of the world. Basically, Ishgardian astrolgers are tasked with charting the heavens due to the Dravanian Horde's movements having some sort of synchronization with the heavens. Supposedly there is a heavenly body known as the Dragonstar that is extremely important to them.

Furthermore, the astrologians will likely derive power via the organization of stars and other celestial bodies. Almost like an extraterrestrial equivalent to geometries.

Lastly, they were able to freeze enemies in time back in Tactics through some sort of manipulation of one's starsign. Horoscopes and divinations and destinies are a very real thing in this setting!

P.S. Can't wait to tarot card.

But I'll also throw in this possibility simply because it hasn't been said yet. Again, possibility.

Machinist could be goblin-tech related. The floating machine the Machinist pulled out didn't have a very Ironworks feel to it (from what we've seen) nor did it have a Garlean Magitek look, but it's colors and clunky design felt very Goblin to me? IDK, maybe just me. But we also have the Alexander Raid coming up in Heavensward which is a Goblin-made machine primal diety thing. So I'm putting my 2 gil on goblins.
Regarding this, there is a slide of a much more Ironworks-esque turret as well:

So you can imagine the class is more just repurposing ANY technology for their own purposes.

I'm REALLY hoping that Dark Knight will be similar to Ninja in that it will be more on its own side than Ishgard's. Lorewise both seem to be right on track for my second character (Keeper of the Moon or Duskwight, based on Amarant from FF9)

Historically the Job has always had a strong independent streak which has set it apart from it's counterpart the Paladin.

Astrologian seems to be just a glorified Scholar without a fairy, was really hoping for more. Gameplay wise, I will of course hold judgement until I see the abilities, but RPing wise it wouldn't fit my characters because they wouldn't be willing to cozy up to a city-state of fascists.
