^ *curious* ;w;
I don't know whether to be grateful that I haven't been targeted by such people yet or upset that my Miqo hasn't been deemed pretty enough to consider it hahaha. In seriousness though, how are FATEs rp'd. Did you just happened to be RP'ing nearby and then behaved as though you heard a commotion and ran to the aid of the wailers? Our leader, Gilbert La'pine of the Gridania Surveyors, is so good in RP >.<
So good that this FATE RP was awesome. We took the FATE just above the Quarrymill, the one fortress that the Redbellies intend to take. Our Free Company is placed under the branch of the Yellow Serpent of the Twin Adder, hence the name. So, we RP in the manner of missions, scouting, or surveying. I think there are a lot of FATEs that you can use for RP. One such FATE is the one on the Highbridge. Was it Qiqirn or other beast race that involved a continuous chain of FATEs. I'm sure any Flames RP group, or Adventurers' or Mercenaries' Companies RP could use it as a setting. The problem of it was to wait for the FATE to appear. Lucky for us, the Redbellies' FATE happens right on the moment as we reached the area. If not, I'm sure Gilbert has a backup story to keep the pace. When the FATE appears, He said in the line of "The intel was bad" and "we have taken for fools!" and after the FATE, "We need to work on our intelligence network." I've had a lot of RP griefers in this game, but most of the time I ignore them. Just completely. Don't even acknowledge that they are around. They just aren't a part of my characters reality (as I'm IC at the time) so I don't even think of them as being there.
That being said, I went to an RP at Bronze Lake and someone came over asking if they could join the ERP, this happened for about a half hour before they moved on and the other day my guild went to RP at the Grindstone meeting and this guy comes in and just goes "NERDS!" which made me laugh A LOT because it reminded me of this: And I lost it laughing and wasn't good for about 10 minutes. I haven't had any ERP requests in this game (I doubt I'll get them much, playing a Highlander Female) but I used to get a lot when I was on my Draenei alt in WoW. THAT is just uncomfortable and I feel bad for anyone who gets one unprovoked :/. |

You will get your fair share of trolls, we get them in our RPs, the most effective solution I've found? Ignore the crap out of them, there's nothing funnier than watching a troll try too hard and fail miserably, some of them get really frustrated by it.

To be very fair, for the average normal person who just wants to play the game, RPing looks really strange and uncomfortable to them. And while we have chosen to be in the Balmung server, I don't believe SE ever said it was an official place for us. It's like if you were at a park to have a picnic, and right there in the field is a death metal band playing loud music.
I think it's only fair that we don't act like the game belongs to us, and act as the bullied victims. If possible with a few people, I think we should keep it to party chat. Otherwise just ignore when other players gripe. |

My absolute favorite is being called a "nerd" on an MMO. Are you kidding me? We're all ****ing nerds.Â
I literately saw a guy shout "NERDS!!" the other day, I forgot where. It was definitely over the weekend though. Really man? It's Friday-Saturday and you're inside playing games just like I am. In reality though, this game has had the least RP griefers I've seen in a long time. At least the general population doesn't have issues with us and the ones who complain are the minority. "What more can I say to sway him?
To make this statue speak? I swear he's made of stone and I, am barely stirring up a breeze." Character Blog |

When you fall back to party chat, you limit the number of people and you close off from other RPers -- as you're implicitly making your scene private. Additionally, given the blacklist function, there's no reason why they can't avoid that which they don't like. Hiding away from people who are abusive when they don't like you isn't respecting the other player; it's letting the abuser win. The Freelance Wizard

Yeah I don't like RPing in party that much because it makes you seem closed off. How are other people supposed to join in? We were RPing as a guild the other day and a random guy starting RPing with us and it turned into a whole storyline that was really great and just would not have happened if we were in /party.

*blink blink* I echo Asyria's statement. That creepy random tell out of blue I mentioned I got earlier? That was the source.

Well, as how it goes. Close minded individuals will fear what they do not understand. Sadly it also applies to online gaming as well.
