And it's even said in the Relic Reborn quest. Our relics are all replicas.
I think he just meant that our replica Curtanas were made to look like the real deal through a lot of hardship whereas these decorative ones didn't go past the basics assuming they used similar methods, for obvious reasons.
Also, is AF1 really a worn-out AF2? It seems odd that the Sultansworn would wear something that gave them a "dishevelled" appearance.
At least from the WHM quests, yes. ...you basically get super-hand-me-downs.
SCH and SMN I believe, are made from old designs meant to resemble the originals.
MNK is literally hand-me-downs, as you get the shirt off what's-his-name's back.
WAR is hand-me-downs.
I have no finished DRG, BRD and NIN, and am unable to answer those.
This leaves PLD, which....could be debatable. It could just be that coloring has changed from Thorne to Ul dynasties, as shiny armor wouldn't stay that shiny/consistent if it were all hand-me-downs. It does still lend to the idea that AF1 is old/based off "originals", although -our- AF2 armors would be considered remakes of originals.
But now, if we consider that the AF2 tokens drop in dungeons, that could add another layer of complexity I'll just call a game mechanic.
