
Huh? You can't play someone who suffers from some undefined kind of mental illness anymore because if you haven't experienced it, you can't rp it? That sounds unfairly restrictive. If film and tv can get it wrong, we can, and if we want to be better about it then them, we can always do our research. I don't understand.
Anyway, I came from forum rp as well. Not being able to dictate the pace and nature of the rp I get is a bit jarring myself. I'm used to being the ringleader as far as the story writing goes, since that's usually what I did on the forums I played on. But now I have to say it's somewhat of a relief to not need to. I can be part of the crowd or merely silently observe if I wish. That's something hard to do in forum rp at times without a lot of terse, uninteresting posts, unless you're fine with volunteering a lot of internal monologue (like I was.).
