There's a lot of good stuff in Coil and Crystal Tower, so I'd definitely recommend trying at least Crystal Tower story. ^^

The Allag Empire achieved mastery over magic, technology, science, and medicine. They created the Magitek that the Garleans have now re-engineered. They also invented cloning, space ships, biological and chemical weapons, and robot (clockwork) soldiers and war machines. They were also the inventors of the summoning art.
