If you're going for actual desert wear that offers more than dehydration and skin cancer (and perhaps even protects you from those things!), you're gonna want long, flowing, loose and light-colored clothing. Â And you want to keep your head and the back of your neck covered as much as possible.
Then someone needs to tell those Drake Hunters in the Sagolii Desert to put on some clothes.

But, I'm 99% sure that the whole thing with the desert Miqo'te is the fantasy of what "desert neko" would look like. Â People who don't live in a desert (or haven't been to arid areas) think, "Well, man, it's hot, so we should wear less clothes!" Â When, in reality, that works better in a jungle than in a desert. Â
