The Judge actually has a Magitek screen in his helmet and is also playing virtual Triple Triad while looking badass on horseback. Actually, if he isn't keep tabs on the fights themselves (and often even if he is), I have him making sure the audience is okay too. There's a lot going on, and the crowd also has some manner of protection during the event (the only fighting should be between the combatants and all that). I'm actually tracking a lot of things while Judge plods around all threatening-looking on horseback.

But yeah, I would agree that something to shake the usual up would be interesting if it was talked about and planned ahead of time. Folks like Warren and Reiner are already doing a lot to manage things as they are, so knowing the surprise is coming will help them be prepared to deal with it and have the event adjust accordingly. Springing a guy who wants to attack the audience or some other violent drama just isn't cool, and throwing a biased fit about it afterword is even less so.
