Clones are seen beyond this in further patches and even in the expac (won't go into details because spoilers!) so the idea isn't too complex...however, it seems to be something restricted to Allagan tech.
A character stumbling across the Allagan technology to make them that way seems your best bet for ICly explaining that sort of thing but I could be wrong. That's just what I've gleaned thus far from my experience in the game
