As the saying goes. I can certainly understand the feeling of disconnect in your situation. Often there is a kind of professional barrier between getting too friendly with a leadership figure and it can be easy for some to forget that the leader is still a fellow RPer who probably wants all the same kinds of meaningful personal relationships too.
