In fact, in french it would be said "Sans pareil" or "à nul autre pareil" depending on what you refer.  "He is without egual" > "Il est à nul autre pareil." Sorry, just came on this thread when I read ishguardian and thought it could be funny to know if you're interested in french expressions ^^
