Seriously, though, to add more to the subject in general: I'm a fan of the way characters in fiction form bonds that get tempered to hell and back through hardship. That feeling of crawling out of someplace --usually up in flames and falling down around you -- with that other person, be it friend, rival, lover, all of the above, with all their failings and yours, damn, that's one of the best stories to run through.
