The theme this year is “PROGRESS” The Opening Ceremony begins with a parade of nations, where blitzball players march proudly alongside their coaches, sponsors, and representatives from their homeland. This is always an exciting spectacle as it brings out marching mammets, parade magitek reapers, armored war chocobos, and adorable mascots. Following the parade, each team will be honored with a performance from their home nation. The performances range from traditional or popular song and dance to elaborate military marching ceremony. It’s a real chance for a nation to show off it’s unique customs. (note - unfortunately, this year Limsa Lominsa will not be performing a 24 cannon salute suite.) http://aegir-ffxiv.tumblr.com/
