That's totally fine. 
I would expect tribal Seekers would be from either La Noscea or the Sagolii desert. Beyond that, you pretty much have complete freedom to place your character as you see fit. Of course, you'll want to have some reasons why and how you got to Gridania, but coming up with that is part of the fun of writing your backstory.
