Near the gates to Ul'Dah a merchant is argues with the captain of the patrol concerning the outer wall's of Ul'Dah. Out in the distance out in the distance a smoke plum can be seen.
Wealthy Merchant: "I demand you find the vandal responsible for the destruction of my merchandise!" said the merchant in a loud and angry voice.
Captain: "Would you mind telling me why my patrol should investigate this when there are other matters that take priority" said the captain in a less than thrilled voice.
Wealthy Merchant: "That merchandise was worth more gil than a simpleton like you could comprehend! might i add that the funds received would have directly benefited our fair city, the destruction of that merchandise is an attack on Ul'Dah itself!" the merchant was now clearly distraught and getting angrier. "If you do nothing ill make sure the syndicate hears of this."
Captain: Without so much as batting an eyelash the Captain responds "Go ahead and tell them but mind you I would have a few things to tell them as well which may not be very beneficial to you."
Wealthy Merchant: He quickly quiets down and looks at the captain half cautiously and worriedly "What do you mean"
Captain: "Well you see I did have my troops examine the caravan of supplies or what was left and low and behold the shipping manifest remained untouched. Now while there were normal supplies there were most definitely products on that manifest with questionable legality, but that is not all the size of the caravan and number of products did not match. Anyone can deduce you are making more than your letting on and hiding money from the syndicate is not a wise choice. So here is what we will do, we forget this happened and go our separate ways, my advice stay on the straight and narrow or whomever did this may take more than just profit from you next time."
Wealthy Merchant: The merchant said not a word but simply grumbled and went on his way now more fearful than angry.
Captain: The captain breathed a sigh of relief now that the hassle was gone but he did think strange happenings have been occurring within Ul'Dah lately and they may in fact be connected. He decided to double up the patrols something was lurking in the shadows whose was while appearing to be good was still unclear
