I'm kind of cautious on that. It's cool on paper to think of all these different classes getting unique mounts, but it also dilutes the whole "Final Fantasy" feel when the most common mount in the continent is rarely ever seen. How many non-horse mounts were in Lord of the Rings? 2 total, both flying and rarely seen. I'd actually like to see the chocobo remain the most commonly seen and widespread mount and maintaining a sense of the world that's being presented by Square.
A lot of the ideas that are cool, to me, cause a long term deterioration of MMOs as a world we're living in and become more and more of "just a video game" feel. Eorzea feels fairly grounded but if we started to have dragons flying around as personal servants and 20 different wild vicious flesh eating beasts suddenly becoming our personal beast of burden, it loses the flavor of being that world.
A few others, I saw here I was interested to comment on:
Additional ways to acquire gil
I know they’re looking at ways to increase gil accumulation. I think it’s an area that has to beapproached carefully. I remember howbadly gil inflation impacted FF XI after only 1 year in Japan (painful for new US players) and it’s always an issue with any MMO. Right now, though, I think they're aware of the need for a little more gil acquisition, especially with houses on the way!
A /sleep or /liedown emote.
They’re working on figuring this out, but Yoshida has urged caution to the artists as it can be used to create inappropriate imagery they do not want in the game. And if that is a concern for them, I willappreciate a lack of /sleep and being restrained to sleeping in the inns. It really makes me happy to see thedevelopers thinking of the long term integrity of the game. RPers may use these things tastefully, but the devs will have to look at it more collectively.Â
An alternative I'd be interested in seeing is having tents as an item that allows you to gain rested xp when logging off away from the inn.
Expanded dye system. Remove the restrictions on dungeon andAF gear to make them dye-able. Expand the color choices. Create primary and secondary dye parts on each armor for even better variability.
I'm not dyeing (get it har har) for the secondary dye, but I sure wouldn't complain about it if we got it!
For expanding artifact gear to be dyed, they could even add restrictions if they really felt they wanted. I assume basically the AF is the designconcept for those classes, the iconic look they want associated with it. They want the iconic dragoon to look as theiconic dragoon was designed, so if they want to restrict that to certain colors, I’d be okay with that. My guessis they don’t want pink, purple, orange, or yellow dragoons, etc. but surely there’s a middle ground.Â
I’m very much about customization and lookingunique with vanity armor to show what you like and the dye in game now is pretty awesome, but if there’s a limit Square Enix wants to maintain, I fully support their decision.Â
The developershave to keep FF XIV on track to THEIR vision of the game. Losing sight of their vision to meet our collective requestsis a dangerous path and honestly I feel like that’s what severely crippled WoW. If Square thinks a dragoon should be wearingarmor (of specified color options) instead of robes and a white mage shouldn’t be squishy despite appearing to be wearing a full set of plate armor, I think that’s part of the vision of Eorzea they should maintain. I'm not really bothered by the armor type restriction expected to come in.
I like customization, Ilike being able to be unique, but I don’t like when MMOs become a muddled mess because the developers relaxed the world they intended to design and offered more and more concessions to their vision to meet player requests.
Eorzea is Yoshida and his team's world. I'm just a visitor in it. I will explore what they have set out to present and offer me, but after seeing WoW slide from Classic/BC further and further based on OUR (the players) feedback, I'm much more cautious on my change wishlists these days.
The top things I'd like to see introduced, though:
Armor/Dye Preview
In WoW it's called dressing room, others call it preview pane, etc. Basically being able to see what the armor looks like before you buy it and the ability to preview how the different dyes would make it look before actually buying and dyeing.
Vanity Slots/Transmog/Appearance Tab
Call it what you will, but I'm looking forward to being able to wear the armor set I want while receiving the stat benefits from the best gear I've acquired. I'm okay with having this restricted to only armor I could normally wear as that class, but it's always a shame to say goodbye to a set you loved for one you don't.

They have this in place for Free Company, but not friends list.
I'm waiting anxiously for the Ninja class or Thief class/ninja job, however it's introduced. I'm hoping for dual wielding swords for ninja as I imagine single sword would be samurai. I'm also eager to see Red Mage on behalf of a friend of mine.
