My RP group has recently suffered a loss of members/available members due to school, work, and various other RL-obligations (... apparently, we even have one that's currently serving his second month of a six-month grounding...), and this has impacted the group at-large with our ability to do certain events that we've been planning on. Normally, we'd just push it all off until things started looking better, but it seems we're dealing with just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to attendance. We'll be down by even more people by the end of the month, and it's not looking like things will start getting back to normal until sometime mid-summer. With the new expansion on the horizon and members wanting to start shifting gears, putting our current plans off for that long is... well... not really appealing to the group.

So... I come before the community, hoping to recruit some Really Awesome People who are willing to be warm bodies so we can get into some 8-man trials and dungeons. You won't be required to RP with us (unless you want to), and you won't have to see what we're RPing (again, unless you want to); all you have to do is not rush us through cutscenes and let us take our time getting from point to point. Or you can leave as soon as you help us enter the trials/dungeons. Your choice.

"Oh, Mae... why don't you guys just PUG your missing slots through Duty Finder?"
We could, I suppose, if we really, REALLY have to. However, for people who are doing Roulette, it's not exactly fair to them to suddenly get stuck with a bunch of people who are going slow. It's all fine when there's only one or two fresh 50's who want to watch the CS's for the first time and the rest of the group are Roulette who are overgeared for the content, but it's a totally different story when it's the other way around. We'd rather not frustrate anyone without warning.

"Psst... there's also this thing called 'Party Finder'..."
Yes, yes. I'm aware of Party Finder's existence. I'd rather try to have a handful of people who I can just tap on the shoulder and be ready to go within a few minutes than to sit for an hour or more, waiting for random people to sign up for a lengthy Party Finder run.

"... Uh... doesn't your group use MSQ in RP..?"
Let's acknowledge the elephant in the room. Yes, we currently do RP the MSQ. And, yes, that's what we're doing these runs for. Which again is why anyone who is awesome enough to volunteer their time is not required to RP with us -or- see what we're RPing. If any volunteers choose to participate (either as a one-shot character, a dream, actually been there, or an alternative-universe thing or whatever), we'll get you an invite to our RP linkshell -- we like to think our group's take on MSQ is open-ended enough that anyone can join in. Otherwise, you're (again) just a warm body to let us queue to get into the instances and you can be entertained by our OOC chatter and our tendency to pick on each other over our typos.

For those who would volunteer:
-- The dates that we're currently looking at to push through these events are:
5/12 (that's tomorrow, Tuesday), and starting some time after 7pm EST
POSSIBLY 5/15 (this Friday), time currently unknown
5/16 (this Saturday), starting time after 10am EST
POSSIBLY 5/17 (this Sunday), starting time after 10am EST

-- Over the course of these days, we'll be doing Cape Westwind, Castrum Meridianum, and Praetorium. Depending on some variables, we may only need two days. We might need all the days. You don't have to volunteer for all the days if your schedule doesn't allow for it, even one day would help us out!

-- Starting times aren't necessarily going to reflect the times we go into the instances. Depending on how things go (lead-up RP might take more than just a few minutes, for example), it could be an hour or a bit more before we're ready to queue. Please try to be patient with us.

-- If you're planning to queue and then drop, please let us know. If you're planning on queuing and staying, please let us know what job/class you'll be coming as (or be willing to come as) so we can adjust accordingly.

Anyone who's willing to volunteer, please respond with name, day(s), and whether or not you'll be a queue-and-drop or if you'd be willing to stick around. If you're in the latter, please also include any jobs/classes you'd be willing to bring. Our group does have one tank and one healer already, as well as a few people who could fill in in a pinch, but we certainly won't turn down someone who's a die-hard tank or healer. Also, please include what the easiest way to contact you will be (in-game /tells, PM here, or something else) to let you know if you've been tapped for the day.

All volunteers will receive plates of positive-karma cookies. And maybe some of the random stuff I keep in my inventory.

-->Please please please please PLEASE keep this on-topic... if anyone feels like discussing how horrible and terrible it is that (my group or people in general) would dare to RP MSQ, please go make your own thread for it or send me hate-messages via PM. I'm posting this here rather than the RP Discussion forum because I'm making an OOC request, and I'd appreciate it if people respond only in regards to the OOC request.<--
-->If anyone has a genuine question/curiosity on how MSQ RP works without being an all-powerful Chosen One, feel free to PM me.<--

Sounds fun! I'm in if there's a spot.

That's how it starts. The fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men... cruel.

Bouncyoh wow.. i feel very lucky coming across this post.

Hi Mae!  I am very interested in joing your Rp group. I will say that I am not a seasoned Rper rather a rookie. However , I would like to take  this oppourtunity to learn abit more.   I have been playing FF14 for quite a while (since Beta) and have always wanted to involve myself with Rp. I have manage to wet my toes with afew random rper but never really finding that group of folks. I think MSQ rp may be more my style. I would  definately be down with helping and being a part of your group.

My Characters name is L'leona Ember.
main role is healer (sch) but I have  other such as tank (war) DPS ( Bard , mnk smn)

Im all for watching cutscense dont worry (ff fan boy) all about those CS)
ne whoos. um there is only one other thing i should mention. I will only be available after the 21st. currently on a bit of break but! my hiatus is coming to an end Smile.  I have reactivate my char so feel free to add me.

Also looking for an RP Mentor!! Big Grin
thank you
(hmm wonder if i over did it. maybe i should have been much more brief)Blush

Another way to look at this is that you are offering a nice group to go through this content. I know a few people that are levelling and yet to complete the story. This sounds like a great opportunity for them.

I would be happy to help except I am EU based. If I am on when you run, feel free to poke me.

Hey, I'll help out. :O Being helpful's a fun pastime and I can always use more contacts.

I regularly play NIN and PLD and I'm on pretty often after 6 PM EST, so if you can use either of those, just hit me up.

As far as RP goes, I don't exactly have a character that I think would be fitting for heroics and MSQ-ness. At least, not in the general sense. But that doesn't mean I'm averse to getting him to meet more people. Come Heavensward, things might start shifting around for him anyway. I dunno. I'm pretty comfortable with sitting out ICly so the rest of you can do your thing. I generally put RP before anything else in MMOs to begin with.

Find me somewhere if you want me along!

Aww... I would have loved to help, but I have exams on Friday, Saturday and Monday. :/

Stupid exams... preventing me from helping. xD

However. Yes, there is a however. If you are still running things after these dates, or if you need any help of any sort even after this, I am open. Smile Because after exams, vacation, vacation, vacation. Big Grin

And RP? RP!!!

Pick me! Pick me, I say! Bouncy

Wow! I did not expect so many people willing to help us! I was actually kind of wary when Mae suggested that we should make a thread to seek help on these boards >_< Glad it didn't turn ugly...!

For those that wonder how we do handle MSQ RP (and how we will handle the instance), here's a quick digest:

- OOC talk will be restricted inside party chat.
- IC talk will be restricted to our RP LS channel (if you want to RP with us or even just watch, we can give you a temporary invite, it's fine! Or we could make an exception and RP in /say, but only if no one of those that help will mind seeing MSQ RP)
- We will walk where walking is logical, and run when it is wise to do so, so we'll be going slow. We also ICly do not see the mini-map with that nice arrow that points at the right way, so at times we might take dead ends, but don't worry, we will make it out before we time-out.
- The pacekeeper (currently I occupy this role) will handle the NPCs talking, copy/pasting from the system chatlog and into the LS log for everyone to see (if there's stuff others can't see, like players who have already done the event), it is also my duty to modify the dialogues where necessary or to create whole new ones if people decide to address the NPCs. (for example, if you shout "Cid, look behind you!", it will be my task to type "Cid: Huh...? What? *Cid looks behind with a concerned frown*") I always do my best to keep NPCs as much loyal to the personalities the game gave them, rest assured of that... I have years long experience at that and I've never heard complaints.
I also happen to be the person that will be on a half-hiatus soon (tests begin next week, eep!), so that is why we are on a rush, since I am the one in charge of NPCs. I don't want to keep people hanging for me Sad ....

There will be no restrictions to what people can do, and everyone should have their time to shine. We never step on each others' toes with Mary Sue moments or overpowering the scene (unless we're introducing a villain, cause villains should always "win" a bit at first. But that's not the current case), so whether you decide to RP a member of the Scions, a sellsword, or a member of the Immortal Flames, you'll always be an equal to us, no worries! And of course, if you don't feel like RPing with us, that's fine too.

We have yet to make our LS page on the RPC (we're going through some editing with our rules and procedures before we do that), so if anyone wants to take a glimpse at some screenshots of what we do, or of how we set up things, here's a link to our site:

http://tales-of-hydaelyn.guildwork.com/

Thanks again for the warm responses!

To be an interesting, intriguing, well-written character, there needs to be something to allow the audience to relate to them. That is what the problem is with who wants their character to be "perfect". Perfect characters will never be strong, and strong characters will never be perfect, because WE (those who read, who watch, who RP) are not perfect.

Thank you soooo much for everyone who's responded so far, both here and in my PM box (of which I'm happy to report, all the PM's I've received have been volunteers. Whoo!).

Augh! Yes, this as well! We'll gladly take fresh 49's/50's who are on these missions, mains or alts! (I had included this in my initial post, but I've got a twitchy laptop and mouse that likes to click elsewhere on the screen. I hit backspace at some point to fix a typo and BAM! Lost my post.)

Regarding tonight, I'm going to try to start confirming the availability of volunteers between 6:30/7:00 PM. The RP group musters at 7pm, barring any major hiccups we should be ready to queue within the hour. First dibs on the spots will go to anyone who has a fresh 49/50 and needs the missions themselves. From there, I'll take whoever says they're ready first.

*cough* We have yet to RP being called for the Archon Operation, so it might take a little longer than that. But yes, we should be ready to queue at worst between 8 and 9PM EST.

Well... yeah, actual "hit the button to queue" will probably be later than 8. But I've gotten a few hits in interest to watch us, so... for them, we'll be doing stuff earlier.

Welp.

A series of events happened this evening, so we're postponing for now. Disappointing, but hopefully Friday will go better.
