The following lists contain members of both official and unofficially declared Xaela tribes wherein both existing and former members of such settings can help establish links, personal lore and backstories to greater enhance the reach of their characters' lives.
Tribes that have yet to have a single person claim to be a part of will not be listed here until such a time occurs.
You may post to have yourself listed under any tribe of your choosing(with exception, of course, to player-made tribes that self-moderate their applicants) before choosing a name though please try to remember to come back when a decision has been made. Lore-friendly names are encouraged but certainly not required!
Light discussion and commentary is very welcome in this thread albeit detailed discussion and suggestions for individual and specific tribes would best be held in another setting.
A post has recently been made regarding the viability of a second, wholly discussion-based thread here.

Ayanga Tribe:
Quote:"The Ayanga Warband is a nomadic clan of battle-born Xaela that roamed the mountain valleys of the Western Steppes. They are vicious and merciless taking most of their resources from raiding and pillaging caravans and encampments. Although the notion is disputed, some believe the Ayanga an offshoot of the larger Dotharl Clan. In truth, warriors of most clans are welcomed so long as they complete the Ayanga rites of passage – a series of grisly tests meant to measure fearlessness in the face of death and pain most of which involving withstanding some form of torture.
The Warband is heavily steeped in superstitions and traditions, and pride themselves on being fearless. Among their more peculiar beliefs is the notion that the soul is housed within the heart, and to consume the heart is to ingest the soul. This has lead many to label the band as cannibals, particularly after witnessing the mutilated remains of their enemies, but to the Ayanga the act serves only a ritualistic purpose.
Whether fleeing Garlean oppression or heeding the omens of their shamans, the Ayanga Warband took to the seas on a hijacked vessel bound for Eorzean shores. They are led by the diminutive yet fearsome Kokachin, a dark skinned Noykin who slew her own brother in a challenge for leadership.
While they find themselves a long way from the steppes, the hearts of the Ayanga remain as fearless and vicious as ever.
“The Ayanga Take!â€- Ayanga battle-cry."

Noyakir Tribe:
Quote:"The Noyakir once made their home in a vast system of caves in the northern mountains of Othard, but due to a major cave-in, its remains have begun to scatter. The cave-dwellers, once miners and crafters, fishermen and look-outs, now have only rubble and broken homes. The wanderers, once hunters and traders, now have no place to which they can return. Those who are of able-body have made their decision either to stay, to search for another home, or to join a new tribe."

Quote:"An elusive people originating from the northern mountains of Othard, only rumor survives as violent myths of the Khatagin. Thought to be freaks of nature, the members of the Khatagin are savage and phantom-like. These semi-nomadic tribal Xaela prefer assassination over direct conflict, using fear and superstition to smother their enemies."

Qeyin Tribe:
Quote:"The central tenet of the Qeyin revolves around imitation of animals. This is reflected in always keeping on the move, living off the land, and only entering a confrontation if victory is assured. They believe it is the greatest honor to battle against a great predator one on one and slay it. Their love and imitation is also reflected in their shapeshifting and glamour magick that they use to either appear as, or turn into animals for a short time.
They travelled along the upper foothills of Othard's Northern mountains. They moved camp every two weeks or so, keeping their presence hidden through powerful glamours that their 'spell-weavers' would cast every time they made camp. The only interaction they had with other tribes were in guerrilla-style hit and run raids for supplies and food. Â When they would come into proximity with another tribe, they would carefully scout it and deem whether it was significantly stronger, or weaker than their own. If the tribe was significantly weaker than them they would raid it, but if stronger, they would avoid all contact and conceal themselves. This isolationism has created an even more tightly knit social paradigm within the tribe.
The magick of their tribe was limited to powerful glamour and shapeshifting magick that they believe was handed down to them by the Dusk Mother herself. These spell-weavers were responsible for concealing the tribe's camp, and transforming tribe members into various animals which they referred to as 'spiritshifting'. Their uses of spiritshifting ranged from scouting to gathering to a certain few of their warriors who preferred to go into battle as powerful beasts. Spiritshifting into any intelligent race is forbidden as they believe it borrows a creature's soul.
They travelled to the land of Doma to assist them in their rebellion against the Empire at the behest of one of their own who had left the tribe to dwell there. When the Empire retaliated, they lost more than half of their tribe and now number around two score in number. They fled with the Doman refugees and now dwell in Revenant's Toll under the guise of Hyurs under Doman orders to keep a low profile. Weary of city life, they long to return to their traditional ways and are scouting for a way to cross the Ishgardian border and disappear into the wild Northlands."

Toshin Tribe:
Quote:"At the age of 10, every child of the Toshin tribe start their training and are schooled in the arts of war.
At the age of 15, they go through the rites of passage into adulthood where they were sent alone into the mountains and have to survive from one full moon to the next during the harsh winter.
Despite these vigorous training regimes, the Toshin, unlike certain Xaelan tribes, are not without compassion. For the seldom occurring case where a child is born weak or disfigured, the absence of a future along the path of a warrior does not seem to exile the hope of one being allowed to remain as part of the tribe - though the standard to which they are held by their peers is something left to be entirely subjective.
Following the Garlean invasion of Othard, the Toshin found themselves in the midst of a bitter struggle against their would-be oppressors. Though they fought their enemies with great ferocity, the Garleans' superior technology and firepower brought the entire tribe to the brink of extinction.
Forced to flee to other Xaelan tribes for aid, it was soon discovered, however, that of the other tribes encountered, all were equally in danger of suffering the same fate. Banding together, the Xaelan tribes journeyed to the city-state of Doma where their cousin clan, the Raen, resided alongside the Doman Hyurs. With the threat of complete annihilation by the Garlean invasion, the Xaelan tribes were forced into making peace with the Raen and join them as they had to flee the continent, sailing to the Western continent of Eorzea where they were granted exile."
