Ah, so I was correct with my earlier hypothesis then: you're not actually interested in taking feedback into account at all - you simply intend to latch onto those who say 'do what you want' and ignore everything else.

If you don't want to take feedback into account...why are you actually here? Many people have pointed out how you could play a 'vampire' in a way that would fit FFXIV without being too jarring. If you want to just go off and do your own thing - which seems likely given that you admitted that you mostly intend to do this idea with your friends alone - then just go and do it.

You don't need permission. You do, however, have no right to demand that everybody else accepts your idea or finds it amazing.

ummmm gurl chill lol i wasnt demanding anything and yes i was looking for feedback and not ppl saying how impossible it is. if u looked a few comments above someone mentioned being bit by a void tainted bat as an origin which i said was one of the few good ideas amidst the ppl limiting themselves to lore they believe is concrete. the point was to try and get creative and explore possibilities.

Vampires are so passe. Its all about the eldritch abominations now. If people are going to start running around claiming to be vampires, them my characters are going to start worshiping Cthulhu: "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn."

This is not asking for your permission. This is not asking whether the idea is lore-compliant. This is not asking "is this a concept that Open RP world of FFXIV will accept?"

The OP is asking what ideas can make it more lore-plausible. What parts of lore can be used to make a character with traits similar to vampirism?

I respectfully disagree, Kage. I've said this before but all too often someone will make a thread such as this to claim that they're interested in feedback or ideas but in reality they're only really fishing for specific responses that align with exactly what it is that they want to get out of the conversation.

That is why I pointed out the rather dubious nature of the the discussion as a whole - and as expected it has simply devolved into something that isn't particularly constructive. Perhaps the creator of the thread has simply struggled to express themselves correctly but when people are giving thoughtful feedback it tends to rub them the wrong way when their responses are brushed off with dismissive one liners.

If you go back and read through the thread you'll also see that I pointed out multiple ways in which a 'vampire' could be portrayed within FFXIV without specifically being portrayed as or referred to as the stereotypical vampire. Many other posters did the same thing - so I doubt very much that this is a case of people misunderstanding the OP's intentions, especially given their recent hostile/dismissive replies.

That's simple, then. The feedback for his stated story he appears to be sticking to is this:

You can't subjugate an elemental to become a vampire, no, that's stupid and wrong.

OP just refuses to hear it. He's looking for reinforcement or acceptance, not criticism, not feedback. If you only want to be told "Yes, that works just fine, good job sport" you're not interested in discussion or change.

Final Fantasy as a whole has some other games with canon vampires (the Marquis Elmdor in Tactics being the first to spring to mind), so if they were going to have blood-sucking vampires in the game, they'd be there. Â It's possible they exist and haven't been introduced, but they are presently not part of the canon. Â You'd be on your own and working on a person-to-person basis.

Is this a troll thread? Entirely possible. However that doesn't negate the fact that a question was asked and that question might be shared by others. RPers can be an introverted lot so I would not be surprised if lurkers outnumber the outspoken. For those who might be reading this thread in hopes of an answer I will TRY to give you the best one that makes sense to, at least, me personally.

Let's be real for a moment here: there's a pretty big stigma on vampires thanks to twilight and a number of other twists on the vampire dogma. So you have that stacked against you /including/ the simple fact that Vampires are not in game lore.

True we have vampiric plants but remember this is a Japanese game so translation is a thing. Besides that rather clever point I'm afraid you don't have a leg to stand on lore wise.Â

However that is clearly not the question here. The thread asked how it /could/ be made to work without breaking the lore too obviously.Â

This isn't a new concept. People break lore all the time so they can shoehorn in their favorite kinds of rp.. Allagan robots, for example, are quickly becoming popular. Thats basically this question except, instead of vampires it's: how do I rp a robot? Not my cup of tea personally but hey, you do you boo.Â

Anyway from the sounds of it you don't even want to rp a vampire. You just want to drink blood, be sexy, and impress that dude who rps a dentist.Â

So I would personally suggest that first: drop the name. Just drop it. People will immediately shut down at the word 'vampire.' If you Have to use it be careful who you use it with.Â

Second: voidsent. I cannot tell you how many people rp voidsent or being possessed by one or SOMETHING. So just do that except say your possession forces you to drink blood and gives you dark powers or something. I'd be amazed if someone isn't already doing this. They just have the sense not to say 'vampire' in a roomful of people suffering from twilight ptsd lol.

That all said, you're still being lore breaky. However at least now it wouldn't be so painfully obvious. Even the most crazy rp needs to be lubed up with /some/ lore before you shove it down another person's throat!

He inflicted the status effect "Vampire", which could then be spread by that player to other players through attacks.

He isn't called a vampire, but those he infected certainly were.
