Yeah the text on the JP blog clearly says that these are just "some" of the hair styles, they've got a handful of designs in progress,

They also mention showing more at TGS/the letter, look forward to it.

I think more options is a good thing! I'm happy we are getting even more than the contest winners, and they are at least attempting curly female hair (although to me I'd say it's wavy but it's a start). The contest winners are slated for patch 3.1 also.
