Â A good friend of mine once did something similar in another MMO, intending for it to be within group chat with him and his IC wife (played by his RL girlfriend), but due to some mistyping that I really cannot understand because the group and channel commands were nowhere near similar, it was broadcast in the server's RP channel. Â

To make his shame even greater, his girlfriend and I did a short story about our characters teasing him about something else, but using a specific set of words from the mistell in a different context (but clearly meant to poke fun at the mistell). Â

I just had a mistell in the middle of my first FFXIV RP event. Why am I not surprised.

Even if it wasn't anything bad, I still want to hide forever -_-;

Well at least it wasn't anything bad compared to some of the horror stories posted here =P

That and non embarassing RP mistells could be viewed like advertising >.>

There have been a few times where I accidentally sent an ERP message to /g instead of /s ... But that character was in a guild that was accepting of such things. Didn't stop me from feeling embarrassed or my guildies from teasing me though!

A friend and I were rping in /tells as the contents of said RP could have been taken as inappropriate though IMO it was quite innocent. It was my turn to respond to a kiss - just a kiss!! - and so I did. But not after one of my favorite people on Balmung managed to sneak a /tell in also and.. intercepted it. x______x

Like I said it wasn't anything awful but it still makes me mega embarassed just thinking about it now.

Aw, now I wish I had a specific I could remember. Maybe there's a screenshot back in my files somewhere. If/when I get naughty, I get extremely paranoid and I double triple check copy-paste, etc. I don't think I've ever MTed something godawful horrible. But on the way to naughty, plenty of times I'm just like blahblahblah oops that was in say oh well. I've a couple times ranted about how much I hate this and that person undercutting prices on the market board and it ended up in /say. At which point I ran away, but it's not like retainer names are character names anyway.

On the receiving end, I remember some girl MTing something about being skewered by some well-endowed fellow in the middle of a giant public (not RP) event in GW2. And there was the *tapes butt* from a friend in /p in FFXI. Never did figure that one out, but won't forget it. Tapes butt?!

Not really a mistell, but in another MMO I was RPing as my main character who was currently dating a lady. Meanwhile, I was talking to his ex in whispers and writing emotes at the same time.

The character said something and meant to use his current girlfriend's name, and instead, when the ex (who is still a great friend of mine OOC) sent me a tell, that name got stuck in my head. ..So, he ended up calling his girlfriend the name of his ex girlfriend.

It was a tad embarrassing and lolsy. Not to mention the fact that I was in vent with a group of friends (about four/five of us) and we were ALL RPing. And they never let me (or my character) live it down =p

*Ahem* So I kept hearing about all this ERP stuff and I knew someone previously for awhile who kept telling me how much she enjoyed it and kept trying to sell me on the idea. I won't lie and say that I have not been interested in the idea because I will pretty much try almost anything at least once. So one day I was bored, it was really late, and I was in a conversation with someone (not the friend I spoke about earlier) and it started taking a "romantic" turn. I normally just fade to black in these situations, but I thought I would try a little bit out as a training exercise.Â

I slipped and put something in say, and my heart literally dropped to the floor. I ran out of the building that we were in to see if anyone was in /say range...there was one person, but I think he/she was afk...Or at least I hope they were. The whole time I kept thinking to myself, "I am sooooo going to get banned". I learned my lesson now and never again will I try that out, lol. I cant even remember what was said as the trauma has caused it to be erased from my memory.

For some reason I HIGHLY doubt you'd get banned if you stood around ERPing graphically in a massive crowd of people. I've seen people doing it in public chat, you know, on purpose. And Square seems kinda ambivalent on if they even care about reports right now. They've got their hands full still trying to ramp the game into full swing and crank out all the features, ferret out the RMT hydra who's heads keep respawning even more numerously, and deal with 'more important' things that people typing sexual expletives that would be obfuscated at least to some extent, by the profanity filter.

Not to encourage that sort of behavior or anything to that ends. Keep it classy on the public front Heart

Honestly it is also a bit hard for many people to agree on what constitutes ERP. I was once rping with a friend and the topic of the conversation was sex. Got a pm from a friendly non rper who was worried that we might not know others could see our conversation. He didn't mind personally but clearly it was a more intimate topic for him oocly than for us.

But now I am really wondering how many people think to what degree does it become 'ERP'. I mean, anything after first base is kinda 'erotic' right? I mean by the time I'm rounding second base, I'm already in a private area--or the club >.>

Edit note: Also first base is also erotic in it's own right, but that would be the most...acceptable in a public area?
