So I'd say like. "see you in 3 bells" and it would mean 3 real time hours, for example.

This is how I ran Lost Boys in XI... but I wasn't exactly sure how most people are used to handling it.

This is actually an etiquette worthy topic (and was originally listed as one). So everyone feel free to submit some proposed guides related to time in Hydaelyn and Earth to put up on the main site.

Yes, that is correct. Also, a Fulm is a foot

I shall call them leagues, thank you very much. (league = roughly 3 miles)

Re: Time and Measurements in Hydaelyn - Mycroft - 08-25-2010

I shall call them "Acres" and I have no idea as to what they can be converted into.

Food.

I like that thread!

Re: Time and Measurements in Hydaelyn - Eva - 08-26-2010

Also:

ilm (equivalent to inch I assume)
ponz (equivalent to pound)
onz (equivalent to ounce)

...going from FF11 lore anyway...

I'm going to wait to add those until we have confirmation that they're being used in XIV too.

Re: Time and Measurements in Hydaelyn - Len - 08-26-2010

So which deity watches over the 10th uhm month which could be the like 5th umbral moon or is it astral moon
I am like completely confused now cause like the deities wiki had 10th moon and 7th moon and so on now there an umbral astral moon that confusing me

And if I say 3 bells that could either mean a clock tower 3 bells or after the 3 bells on the microwave , kettle which means eat and drink time and then the third bell being me going back into my room to play again I thiink

Re: Time and Measurements in Hydaelyn - Kejira - 08-26-2010

The 10th Moon is 5th Umbral Moon : Nald'thal (Fire) or so it says in the beta right now ^-^

Re: Time and Measurements in Hydaelyn - Eva - 08-26-2010

Only posted because that fulm-long salmon sub graphic was from FF11. I don't know that it's gospel, but it seems to be going by what it was in FF11. I'll keep an ear out for references to these when talking to NPC's.

Are 'malms' and 'yalms' both confirmed? I'm sure I've heard one or the other either on the official site or from someone in the game, but I honeslty don't remember where.

Re: Time and Measurements in Hydaelyn - Asyria - 08-26-2010

Malms and Yalms are how the game tells you how close or far gathering nodes are when you use the appropriate skill to find them so it's pretty official, yes. ^^

Re: Time and Measurements in Hydaelyn - Eva - 08-26-2010

I thought that was just 'yalms' now that you mention it. I don't think I've ever had a logging point that was over 1000 yalms away (which would be a bit over half a malm by our projections if I'm not mistaken).

Re: Time and Measurements in Hydaelyn - Asyria - 08-26-2010

Hmmm I'm pretty sure I saw "malm" at some point, could've been a bug, but I know I saw it. Maybe it was a NPC talking too. Hmm...
