Maybe they can compare notes and she can pilfer the workings of the rest of your goodies just by looking at it when she comes looking for information about Amalj'aa summonings. RE: Curious about your character's powers.... - Harmonixer - 05-06-2015 Yhur is really good at building people shaped boxes, and people shaped boxed related accessories. He doesn't currently possess any particular powers. For a little while, I considered making him effectively useless in combat. I find it more likely that he's able to do some simple things, possibly, but he's never tried because he's never cared. RE: Curious about your character's powers.... - Aaron - 05-06-2015 Aaron learned how to fight by getting into street brawls protecting his little sister for the most part. He learned the bulk of his blade skills from a Rogue named Calen and on and off from his mother. He got his insane speed and agility through physics and common sense. A Guy with no armor or shield armed with two swords/daggers is gonna move a hell of a lot faster than a guy in plate with a giant Axe. Coupled with armor having weak spots at the joints basically evolved Aaron to fight similar to a komodo dragon. Go in, eviscerate, back out, let them bleed out., Everything else he's learned that's not related to his natural ice affinity is him observing how he saw others fight with weapons and working them into his own skills. He got his sword throwing tactic from watching a lancer in a fight with him throw his lance at Aaron like a javelin. Aaron figured swords were pretty light and streamlined to an extent, with enough arm strength and accuracy he could hurl a say goblin longsword with almost the same speed and accuracy as a dagger. Other than sword throwing and his higher than average agility and speed physically Aaron has nothing really that stands out. Unless you count him not saying a word or even looking at his opponent when he attacks as a psychological advantage something to be shared lol. I do notice though a lot of people seem to like or is interested in why Aaron throws swords instead of daggers. Flynt Knoktros told me Aaron throwing Blazefire at him during their grindstone fight marked that battle as his all time favorite fight lol. Flamesmith also seemed to have a interest in why Aaron does that. Nothing more satisfying than hearing a burly roe say to someone not Aaron "You're the second person to throw a fucking blade at me." RE: Curious about your character's powers.... - SM Nick - 05-06-2015 -Solis's hand-casted fire comes mainly from his mother's experience as a Thaumaturge, combined with Solis's pure will and unique control of his fire-aspected aether. His physical strength and swordsmanship, on the other hand, comes from his father, former Flame Captain Solem Claritas. -Max knows arcanism, thaumaturgy, and conjury all through reading books, and although he is still a beginner at actually casting spells, he shows that he is magically adept and is a natural, mainly using arcanism with his grimores. -Rena's brute strength comes from extreme physical training done as a tradition in her tribe, the Opo tribe, also granting her unique control over her tail as a result. -Sakura (gonna rename to Mizuchi come her time as an Au Ra) is a kunoichi from Doma who is skilled in the art of ninjutsu, and is a master of dual wielding through her specialized training, molding her into a deadly yet sexy assassin. RE: Curious about your character's powers.... - C'kayah Polaali - 05-06-2015 C'kayah's powers are all in his tongue. Erm... I mean, he's a cunning linguist... Um... That is... He's got a tongue faster than Mohammad Ali and sweeter than Dolly Parton. In their youths! I mean... Well, he's charismatic and empathic. It's a good combination. He can suss out what people want, and he's good at convincing them that he can help them get whatever that is. That and he's rich. But the money mainly followed the tongue. Setoh, on the other hand... An absence of a sense of right and wrong coupled with 8 years of following the money has made him a dangerous criminal. RE: Curious about your character's powers.... - Martiallais - 05-06-2015 Zarek's 'powers' come from inheriting/learning it combined with living life. Most people tend to overlook that for the 'average' person life can be fairly dangerous even within the walls of the city states. His mother (a highlander) while not a monk of Rhalgr knew enough to teach some of the basic forms and such (little lore bending plus 'daww' moments of mother + son training together) to him early on in life. She was also a Brass Blade so I like to think that before she died she passed on tidbits about how to take care of oneself in Ul'dah. Due to his father's connections and work for the Syndicate, a buddy of his kind of halfheartedly started to look after the then parentless Zarek and thus got him started in a life of 'organized crime' so to speak. Bouncing, throwing fights, collecting money...all those plus managing to live through everything else that happens on back streets in Ul'dah is what gave Zarek his powers. RE: Curious about your character's powers.... - Zyrusticae - 05-06-2015 T'rahnu's parents were both former adventurers, so that helps quite a bit. She's also quite talented, with an extremely high 'physical intelligence' and an aptitude for manipulating her own personal aether. This, in combination with her numbness to physical hardship, makes her extremely good at pretty much any form of melee combat once she's got some training in. And then there's the Echo on top of it. She can see actions occurring a scant few seconds into the future, allowing her to react accordingly... which, frankly, is just a ridiculously OP power to have. However, due to her relatively passive nature, this generally just makes her really hard to kill, rather than giving her the ability to slay someone on a whim. Why does she have it? Well, why does anyone have the Echo? I can't answer that, because no one else really can. We know that both those blessed by Hydaelyn and those chosen by Zodiark (the Ascians) can possess it, yet the Blessing of Light and Dark are both orthogonal to the Echo, as the Warrior of Light stand-in still possesses the latter despite having the former stripped from him by you-know-who. So that's just one of those things I handwave, at least until we have more concrete lore on the ability. She was taken by the Empire and conscripted when she was eight. She was sent to Doma to be trained as a ninja and assassin for the Empire and was also experimented on by a particularly cruel Garlean scientist and as such has a moderate healing factor. Yep. RE: Curious about your character's powers.... - Aya - 05-06-2015 Victoria's Secret? Or its Eorzean Equivalent? ![]() RE: Curious about your character's powers.... - Aduu Avagnar - 05-06-2015 oh, if we're talking bits and pieces then we also have the following, along with the 32 years of combat/aetheric training: Formshaper Mask: Appearing as an Ash Mask with a crystal embedded into it, nako can manipulate the Aether within it to appear as another creature of roughly the same mass. He needs to constantly keep it topped up to maintain the glamour, and if it ever depletes, then the glamour drops. Shadow Visor: A Visor that acts in a similar manner to the VISR system from Halo 3: ODST. It enhances the current field of view between background and foreground, reads and catalouges individual Aether Signatures allowing for easy recognition, even if glamoured, and due to the way Aether works within people, can pick up changes to it, such as corruption by the Void, Ascians, or just someone starting to channel it ala Warrior/Monk. RE: Curious about your character's powers.... - Star Lin - 05-19-2015 Kestlona doesn't really have any special powers. Most of her training came from her Pa with daggers and with her fist from her teacher Alex. Limsa being a seaport also let me play around with different accents and learning another language directed her into trying to understand the Beast Tribes own spoken language. Alex just used those raw talents to start her training as a spy. John is highly aether sensitive, sensing it through his finger. He so sensitive that it has made him postcognitive, but terrified of using it because he views it as a curse since he can't shut if off and has to wear gloves to keep from being overwhelm by the past. He's also train in aetheric healing, with his carbuncle, Kit help with the worst injures that happen at the Grindstone. RE: Curious about your character's powers.... - Flashhelix - 05-19-2015 Oskwell's speed and mobility doesn't come from any real devices other than his wind-aspected spear, which allows him greater jump control. During his two-eyed prime, he had no problem peforming jumps from any angle, side-angle jumps to cross distances fast, jumping off the ceiling, off of people onto other people, etc etc. Extended hiatus from Ishgard has since dulled his jumping skills, but he's on the road to retraining them in the hopes of getting them back where they once were. |
