(This is just a lil rough draft of an idea I'm thinking about getting into, was wondering what you guys had for thoughts on it or if anyone would be interested in joining).
(Also drinking game, take a VERY SMALL sip every time I say "wind")
(OOC)Pronounced "Kuj-kai" and meaning based around "of the whirlwind", the Kujqai follow the wind to their fate and daily lives. Worshiping the weather and the animals of flight that glide carelessly and are guided throughout the world, they scatter both apart and together freely. Ascertained to bask in the "winds of fate" to guide how they breed, where they eat, what they do, and believing this encompasses all to equality in power. The tribe can consist of other tribes, breed(depending on weather), and adopt from other tribes so such guides the wind's path ever further. The belief of the Kujqai is that the wind guides all, both together and apart to journey the lands far and wide than to be secluded to the Steppe alone. Bringing the tribe full circles and in endless directions, such is as whirlwinds being a constant flow of directionless wind.
(IC)"The wind is ever flowing and bound to no one, it caresses the Azim Steppe as home but breathes life anew to unexplored land, only to strengthen in reach. The Nadaam matters not to claim the throne when the all encompassing wind divides us so that all is equal and lead naturally unto the wind's intertwined gusts. Limitless are we of the whirlwind, taking heed to the whispers and consistently growing as we migrate. For whomever rules the Dawn Throne is but only another partaker of the vast breeze that promotes our growth. We of the whirlwind divide only to gather stronger as the Mother and Father would so desire. It is natural for our birth to be righteously spreading from land to land, glorifying the whimsical ever-changing winds of fate to embrace all Xaela alike. To those that defer the understanding of the wind shall only falter in their paths, leading only to burial beneath the lifeless crusts of earth."
(OOC)Some guidelines to how the tribe works.
Breeding - See post 11 for changed concepts. The tribe isn't bound to themselves and in fact encourages breeding with other tribes(maybe even other races depending?I changed this below, decided against it to keep the Xaela pride) to strengthen the notion of their blood running through the vast veins of all Xaela kind throughout the land. Only on specific weather conditions do the Kujqai consider choosing to breed(mentioned below) and more often typically choose a new member or a former other tribe member to do so with. This embraces being united like the winds that flow together(family) and embrace the new coming gusts(new Kujqai to be) to strengthen their tribe as a whole both in numbers and varying qualities(such is as the uncertainty of the wind that blows aimlessly by having Xaela of all sorts of tribes scattered within with their varying qualities, both good and bad).
Clothing - See post 11 for changed concepts. Anything goes! Yeap, even the snowman outfits and silly stuff could work here. This is a culture that embraces migration and cultural differentiation across all the lands based on where they go and what's happening. Wearing attire of the steppe is pretty normal while you're in the steppe, or perhaps you were a former Dotharl or Oronir that now embraces the winds of fate, that's just as normal. Maybe it's the Starlight Celebration and you see the snowmen, santa robes, reindeer about and want to join in the celebration of this foreign holiday. Maybe it's cold or hot, wear something light or heavy? Essentially you dress however you feel fit to survive the wind's "emotions" or caress it so to speak depending. Which plays into the weather conditions that are below this. This also means if you're a glamour fiend, go nuts! The only limits I'd say would be dressing as a snowman in the summer... dressing up as Odin? Things that are just outright oddball or something that's clearly not too akin to the concept of "going with the flow". No one Kujqai is ever truly right or wrong in how they choose to be and follow fate, whether they want to be in iron clad armor all the time to defend themselves against potential threats they may find in their journeys, or they're as care free as can be and wanna be naked lol.
Migration Patterns - This is where the fun of this tribe kicks in considering everything is done based solely on the wind and weather. Typically the tribe uses (or can use) birds as mounts for travel, of any kind as they worship everything that flutters in the sky's embrace(basically, no machines is the only ruling here). The weather conditions dictate how a Kujqai feels emotionally, what they do traditionally, how they move, and what course of action they take to next. Day or night is no difference other than maybe the weather's climate of course being colder at night and more humid or hot in the day(still debatable, open to ideas too). Below are some examples of what the conditions would mean.
Rain - (IC) "The Father weeps his sorrows unto us, our respects to all Xaela that have given themselves unto the soil through embracing the cycle of ever-changing winds. His sorrow shall mask our melancholy as we pray and respect the fallen of our kind." (OOC) Metaphorical tears from the sky for the tribe to take a moment in sadness, kinda like a mini funeral to remember those who have fallen. Basically seen as a global time to pay respects when rain comes down, no matter where. Typically still active and about, probably slower throughout the day, more depressed or calm, more in-depth thought is applied, character might be a "amiss" or not like themselves. How would you feel if you believed a god was crying for potentially thousands of dead ancestors and brothers? Probably quiet or to yourself, not too cheery.
Showers - (IC) "....." (OOC) Just pure out right depression, it's like rain but worse, imagine crying but instead of just tears, it's heavy sorrow and crying out pain. A Kujqai would be silent in respects and not dare speak a word, seeking only to find any nearby Kujqai nearby and huddling in a circle(or as close as one can get depending on how many are even close together) to mourn together. Most you would see is prayer, respects, expressions, usually closed eyes... basically listening to the cries and letting it all out while you pay respect in utter silence. Sitting together shows rejoice and union, while the silence shows your respect to both the Dusk Mother and Dawn Father in this great sorrow.
Clear/Fair Skies - (IC) "Ah! But another glorious day to be graced in the hands of the caressing wind!" (OOC) Just a regular day for you! Wherever you are, have fun taking in the sights, enjoying the customs of the local area, inquiring wherever you desire, telling others of your tribe, basking in your glory and tales of travel as well as to come. Emotions run pretty free, you've been given another day of free wind to guide you wherever you believe and you trust your instincts to follow and do as you see fit. Maybe you've come to town out of a sandstorm, some merchants interest you in a local food to try that's new, maybe get some clothes, take a shower, just do whatever you feel like because you're free to the wind's beckon and desire! It's common for tribe members to split ways or join groups together in migration while skies are clear and the weather is welcoming like this.
Dust Storms/Sandstorms - (IC) "The storm runs the land dry and dirty... We are unwelcome here, we must move my brothers and sisters!" (OOC) The wind is angry... duststorms representing a line between anger, hate, or fear.. you're beckoned to leave at once as the winds are furious, clouding the paths with dirt, sand, mud, and harsh wind. This is the wind's way of saying "get out", guiding you stray from danger as belief that this storm is a righteous emotion to fear. Perhaps the wind is telling you a tragedy is to befall this land soon, the duststorm being a warning to leave. The air is unclean and thrashing about, you shall follow the wind's advice lest you want to be torn asunder, injured, or die.
Fog/Cloudy - (IC) "Mmm... Perhaps tis not our time thus yet. We shall take notice in the sky's sheltered mind and in the air's clouded perception, to be safe....". (OOC) It's gonna be slow day, it's cloudy so you can't see the sky and its foggy so you can hardly see much in front of you... You believe this is calling to be at ease and rest. The wind is unsure, just like a clouded and confused mind, so too are you unaware of what you are to do for now. Just go about yourself, take it easy, nothing too out of this world, be a lil cautious of what you do, put a lil extra thought before you bite into your food or buy something. Perhaps seek others of the tribe around for aid or at the very least stay close.
Wind - (IC) "Yes!!! Such a glorious day to travel, nothing shall bind me of my pace or hault my desires." (OOC) Basically a clear day but the wind blowing makes you feel confident in everything you do. You get offered a "bargain" on some vegetables from a stranger, hell yeah you'll take them! Maybe he just scammed you, you don't care, he prolly just sold his last good(not rotten) veggies to you and you snagged em. You want to sail or see the mountains? Let the wind boost your speed and guide you there flawlessly no matter what happens. Run into some baddie trying to rob you? HA, HE'S A DEAD MAN, not a damn thing is stopping you from swiftly decapitating him with a an axe piercing both the air and his neck. I'm over exaggerating at this point but basically everything in this weather gives you a "Hell yeah!" can do attitude. Regardless if you fail or not, you embrace knowing the wind's faith in your steps in any direction you take, no matter what it is. Unexpected? Mistake happen? It's all apart of the great plans at work you confidently smile the whole way.
Gales - See post 11 for changed concepts.. (IC) "The wind.... it refuses to cease... On your guard!" (OOC) Basically the interpretation that the wind is a lil overzealous, maybe even too confident.... This can happen from a wind into gales, as a sign to go "woah buddy... chill out there...". The Wind is a bit more reckless than usual and all over, you'd be a bit panicky and more cautious than on a foggy/cloudy day. The wind is too powerful at the moment and you understand it's zealous behavior so you instead act a bit on your guard than falling prey to it's over abundance. It wouldn't be surprising if a Kujqai were to get a bit too cocky himself getting caught up in the wind so to speak... Quite easily happens to most Kujqai too, lil bit of a power trip. It's not until the wind is biting your skin that you realize you need to wake up a lil bit and relax. Different weather afterward can interpret the emotions of this understanding too, whether it's anger of defiance to the wind or clear skies of now cleared perception. Gales can be tricky business, leading to the death of some or inducing fear into a Kujqai for not following suit in this abundance of confident "power". Any action can feel uncertain in results, so most would opt to either be EXTREMELY careful or would act fast in their decisions as to not do anything dumb/hasty.(this one's subject to change, would love comments on it to debate it's true meaning).
Gloom/Umbral Winds/Umbral Static/Auroras/Tension/Special weather - See post 11 for changes made and revisions. (IC)"And so we are gifted a beauteous sight in which to bear our beloved children to be... Their birth be a momentous life anon..." (OOC) The Kujqai believe that oddball weather conditions like these(even deadly ones that mean there's a primal about or something's wrong) bring favor and fortune to their offspring. Conceiving children at a time when the sky is lit in a unique way is something to remember and let the children bask in glory for. During this time, both male and female typically look for a partner to bear children with, though they normally look for Xaela that are not in the tribe or for Xaela they have not bred with before. This increases the likeness of strong willed children with variety of strengths and weaknesses from other tribal cultures while also knowing the winds may carry their children onward in life to find them once more. It's not uncommon for Kujqai to not be in the mood to breed in this weather, especially knowing the ones around them are what can be seen as brothers and sisters. Though it is still considered wise and common to "look around" so their sons/daughters can be known for their strengths based on the wind's unique tidings. Breeding to the tribe is a form of acceptance that all Xaela are as one with the wind as the Kujqai themselves while also being a representation of power the wind holds over all. This does imply they may have a lover but also multiple children bearers depending on individual character goals/preferences. Some may not even bother because they think so highly of themselves under the conditions they were born, they would think anything else would be inferior or a waste while others may be less traditional or desperate to strengthen their own kin. It's less a sign of them being in the mood and more them acknowledging the gift the wind is giving to make what they believe their offspring to become stronger/smarter/cunning/lucky and so on. Best metaphor I can think of for this is kinda like when you you experience a special occasion with someone during a once in a lifetime incident, like a kiss when a shooting star falls. It's both memorable and special, so it boosts confidence overall as well, but also makes a form of self prophecy that it's fated rather than "it happened, so NOW it's special". This makes the tribe very cocky and proud of themselves when they reach particular ages, as they acknowledge what their birth "means" and they end up becoming what they were so claimed, but the act of this makes the belief that the birth of these times is officially what determines it.
(debating this) The breeding may also dictate formal addressing to a fellow Kujqai. Such as "Budgai of the Tense Moon" or "Kashin of the Static Sun" to show significance of the offspring's luck in birth or the differentiation of when first bred.
Thunder/Thunderstorms - See post 11 for additional details and revisions. (IC)"The wind seeks retribution... Our kin hath been slain and will be avenged! Scatter my fellow Kujqai, ye who is not struck is pure of sin!" (OOC) Thunderstorms are basically anger and mourning put together as a sign of revenge. The rain dictating Xaela have fallen wrongly and the thunder to dictate the wind is pissed off enough to strike someone down. The tribe sees a thunderstorm as the wind personally striking wrongdoers, as the phrase goes... lightning never strikes in the same place twice. Thunder may also represent righteous vengeance alone, more aligned to anger and payback. Kujqai would separate immediately upon sight of a storm like this, because the wind's rage is unable to be tamed and if the wind thinks "you" did something to deserve a lightning bolt, it's probably a good idea to not be standing next to someone you like the company of unless you want them to possibly be killed too. Being within sight is merely enough to warrant insult that someone may not like your company or the person wants you to see them die by thunder. Case and point, tribe separate asap, fewer casualties and if it ends and you unscathed... you are pure and have done nothing to anger the wind. This weather leads to the division and travel of the tribe very often to leave to more clam places, but can also make one feel the same righteous fury toward someone committing an act that is unjust. Aka.... If you see a Kujqai and you're stealing someone's wallet or hurting an animal, he very well may act of the wind's will and strike you down to appease it's wrath. You'll only ever see one in the area though if that's the case, but chances are they will not be thrilled with anyone in their sight until they're out of the thunder's reach or it calms down.
So... thoughts? Critiques? Maybe like or needs improvement?
