As mentioned in the 3.0 Spoiler discussion thread, the Library has books which feature lists of Garlean titles. I managed to grab some screenshots, so here we go, along with general translations):

The rise of the Garlean Empire in the year 1522 of the Sixth Astral Era led to significant changes in the structure of Garlean society (Similar to the Marian reforms of the Roman Legions). This is most evident in the adoption of titles which serve to indicate an individuals place within the social hierarchy.

The following information was compiled with the aid of informants within the empire and has yet to be verified:
Royalty:

Zos - The Emperor
Yae - Member of the royal family in the line of succession
Wir - Member of the royal family with no claim to the throne

Military:

Van - Legatus (General)
Tol - Tribunus laticlavius (Officer between Legatus and Centurion, highest of the 6 Tribunes in a legion) or Tribunus militum (no direct translation beyond a Tribune in a legion, guesses as between the rest of the Tribunus angustiglavius and the Tribunus laticlavius)
Sas - Tribunus angusticlavius (other 4 Tribunes in a legion) or Praefectus castrorum (Camp prefect, most senior officer after Legatus and Tribunes)
Rem - Primus pilus (Senior centurion) of Pilus prior (second most senior centurion)
Quo - Primi Ordines (Centurions of the first cohort) or Centurion (Commander of around 80 men (senior centurions commanded Cohorts))
Pyr - Optio (Executive officer chosen by his Centurion), Tesserarius (Watch commander - head of night guards), or Decurion (Cavalry officer in charge of a squardon (could also be meant to cover Decanus)
Oen - Duplicarius (Someone receiving double pay) or Legionarius (Legionary)

Specialists:

Nan - Chief engineer or engineer
Mal - Primus medicus or senior magitek technician
Lux - Chief medicus or magitek technician
Kir - Senior medicus or senior technician
Jen - Medicus or technician

Public Officials:

Iyl - Dictator (Head magistrate) or Princeps senatus (first member of the Senate)
Het - Consul (Highest elected office), Praetor (commander of an army, or elected magistrate), Tribunus plebis (Voice of the basic citizenship within the senate), Aedilis (Assistants to the Tribunus plebis) or Quaestor (state financial supervisor and auditor)
Goe - Censor (Magistrate maintaining census, supervising public morality and certain finances)
Fae - Unknown
Eir - Unknown
Dus - Lictor (Bodyguard to public officials)

General Populus

Cen - Respected artisans
Ban - Majority of citizens
Aan - peoples of annexed territories lacking basic citizens rights*

*Many Garleans view this as an opportunity rather than a condemnation, as citizenship may be granted to those who have demonstrated exceptional skills, as well as those who have contributed twenty or more years of military service.

Decided to aid the military minded Garleans with some info on the Marian Legions (Which is the closest model to the in game Garlean Legions given the titles).

10 Chohorts of 6 Centuries
A century consists of 100 men (80 legionaries and 20 non-combatants)
1st Cohort is irregular consisting of 5 double strength Cohorts (for 160 men per century)
Century divided into 10 Contubernia led by a Decanus
Contubernium contain 8 legionairies and 2 non-combatant servants.

Most of this info came from Wikipedia, so if someone with more knowledge on Roman history can supply it, then cool!

It's some great stuff but Eir and Fae have me the most curious. Also interesting how they're pretty much alphabetical from the lowest rung, up.

Yes, I was going to expand upon it later on, its pretty similar to standard Roman practice.

It seems that the Garlean empire is based on the Republic of Rome, post Marian Reform, with some bits based on the Roman Empire

Cen would be higher than Ban, so yeah, it -is- alphabetical, just no U or X titles.

While I was hoping there would be more than just "nan" for engineers (since a technician tends to be a whole different thing in practice), I guess that settles it for Corelyn's "real" name.

Corelyn nan Bellor it is. (Though of course, it's "rosefire" now, but... yanno. Backstory.)
