Do you see Eorzea becoming an unrivaled superpower in the context of the story, with the affairs of whole continents being managed by what were once considered sellswords? An enlightened society boasting the miracles of both science and magic, and the bounty of conquest?

(or am I quite possibly off my rocker? something about the msq does that...)

Garlemald itself used to be an insignificant piece of rock until they discovered technology way ahead of their time and used it to usurp a large portion of Hydaelyn. So sure, it's possible. If it's likely..eh..depends. Eorzeans are rather good at infighting and it doesn't really have powerful leadership.

Or were you looking for real-world examples? Because there's plenty of those too actually.

Eorzea, warmongering fanatics, someone needs to cut them down now before they destroy us all.. they crashed the moon into the land and set free a great dragon upon us! Their answer to everything is war.

React now before they annex any more of the world and kill us all with their misuse of Aether and divine powered souls!
