I would most definitely be the hacker/programmer/computer-savvy sidekick, hidden off somewhere safe in order to help the protagonist do what he or she otherwise would be unable. The Non-Action Guy for sure, likely working Mission Control; the Otacon to a Solid Snake, or a Joker to the Normandy, of sorts.
