The greater dragons/ wyrms (IE Svara, Aiatar, Isgebind etc.) can all live to be roughly 1000 years old, and over the course of their lives they will evolve in individual and distinct patterns both physically and mentally. This results in the varied colorations of their flesh/scales, and in the variation in their abilities and elemental affinities. This information comes from the Blue Dragon Triple Triad card description. Also, you can probably learn a lot by doing the sidequests/talking to NPCs around Anyx Trine.
