If you were displaced because of the Ala Mhigo fall/take over and started wandering because of that would that make sense? I've been told there were native SoS in Ala Mhigo, just not sure exactly what their situation was. Or if any of the existing SoS NPCs in the game are people who once resided there.
Without spoilers, I can't really go into detail on what exactly their situation is. I can say that there are large groups of both tribal and non-traditional city Miqo'te in the Gyr Abanian region. M and J tribes in particular. There are also existing Seeker NPCs in the game who came from Ala Mhigo.
When you get to Stormblood, you'll have a chance to find out way more about the situation there, and the Miqo'te who live in Ala Mhigo and Gyr Abania. In the meantime, I can give you some links to Ala Mhigo lore that we knew pre-SB.

Ala Mhigo fell in 1557, which was 20 years ago. Technically, it's still just been 20ish (to 21) years ago. Time passage in FFXIV is very very weird, and not very conducive to RP. I have a post on it, because the topic became a huge talking point following Stormblood, but it has spoilers. If you'd still like to read it, be warned.
The Too-Spoilery; Didn't-Read version is that: FFXIV devs utilize a Simpsons Time Bubble, where events happen but time doesn't move forwards drastically. Lore specifically dates a major event in the ARR MSQ (2.2) as being the 1st Year of the Seventh Astral Era. A major event in Stormblood is said to take place roughly one year after 2.2. So it's still between the 1st Year of the Seventh Astral Era and the 2nd Year of the Seventh Astral Era. Which would place Ala Mhigo's fall still between 20 and 21 years ago.
