Ok so it would be possible to be a keeper of the moon male who when pushed out of the nest wandered towards Gyr Abania, and for some reason (trade, hunting, guarding caravans) you went back and forth between the two. Having friends in both places. You were lucky and not actually there when the city fell and lost track of your friend(s) and had trouble reuniting with them.
And having familiarity with both regions is it possible to say for a time you helped smuggle people out of Gyr Abania into Gridania to safety/away from the Garleans? You might have been the person who helped get them into Girdania once they hit the border of both nations. And maybe you did this in hopes that on one of these trips you would find your friend.
