Part 1: The BasicsPart 1: The Basics
1.What is your full name?
Isilme Rihan Turuphant
(Her name by Seeker traditions would be M'Isilme Hirilonde)
2.Where and when were you born?
Limsa Lominsa. (Unknown to Izzy, her mother was actually in custody at the Coral Tower at the time. She as literally born in a holding cell)
3.Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
Hirilonde Turuphant - Captain in the Knights of the Barracuda. Was a field trainer for the Cudas before the war, teaching unit cohesion and tactics. Before the battle of Cateneau he requested and was granted a transfer to front line duty. He is presumed to have been killed at Carteneau, but the damage to Izzy's memories of him indicate he became a Warrior of Light instead.
Mahayi Sodachi - Born M'Hayi Sodachi, Mahayi was a former assassin. Eventually reformed by Hirilonde, part of her parole involved never picking up a blade again. She retired to being a housewife, and to managing the home and raising Isilme. She was killed in La Noscea when Bahamut destroyed their home
4.Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
None that I know of, but Dad... he was a bit of a womanizer, even AFTER getting married. I wouldn't put it past him to have put a little half brother or sister in some wench out there.
5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
I live in Limsa Lominsa, in a small, kinda simple apartment. Nel and I spend most of our gil on the shop and the forge, and whatever is left over goes to Ilyanna.
6.What is your occupation?
I'm a Second Lieutenant in the Maelstrom, but because of the last minute orders that spared me a trip to Carteneau, I'm... viewed with some suspicion and distrust. They know some strings must have been pulled to get those orders, but they don't know by whom, because they don't remember my father. They see me as more dishonest than a deserter. However, they need skilled people, and I'm a skilled smith. So, while they wouldn't trust me to be in charge of the Commodore's rubber ducky, they're perfectly happy to have me crank our chainmail or cobalt plating.
When I'm not smithing for the Grand Company, I work in the shop Nel and I own in Hawker's Alley. Making armor or weapons, repairs, materia melding and the like. And I help take care of Ilyanna, of course.
7.Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 114 lbs
Race: Miqo'te/Hyuran crossbreed (Seeker/Midlander)
Hair: Red with platinum hilights
Eye color: Heterochromatic. Left eye is green, right eye is blue
8.To which social class do you belong?
Soldier
9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
I'm healthy, but I can't bear children, due to a severe childhood illness that rendered me sterile.
10. Are you right- or left-handed?
Right handed.
11. What does your voice sound like?
WAAAAY to 'cute'.
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
It's not my fault!
13. What do you have in your pockets?
Dark matter, blacksmith hammer, armorsmith hammer, various other crafting odds and ends, five gil, and my chocobo whistle.
14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
I hate fish. For some reason, smiling Hellsguard creep me the hells out. And, for some reason, I have this bizarre compulsion to... to... play with yarn. Like, if someone tosses a ball of yarn in front of me, I wanna chase it. I've even gotten banned from Sunsilks over an... unfortunate incident.

Part 2: Growing UpPart 2: Growing Up
15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
Painful. I spent most of my childhood battling a wasting illness. Something the healers at the Fane described as an ‘Acute aetheric imbalance’, whatever that means. Mom and Dad never said much, but I overheard them worrying it was because of me being a halfbreed. On bad days, I couldn’t get out of bed at all, and even on good days I’d get tired easily. I really didn’t get to run or climb or play with the other kids like I wanted.
They did eventually fix me, but the damage was done. I won’t ever have kids because of it. But the weakness was gone, and I promised myself I’d never be weak again.
16. What is your earliest memory?
My father, Hirilonde, reading me a story from one of his journals.
17. How much schooling have you had?
Having a parent in the Coral Tower has advantages, and one of ‘em was access to a good education. I was schooled by the arcanists along with a lot of other kids of officers. One wouldn’t think pirates would be big on reading or writing, but people forget that sailors have to accurate calculate their position on a chart from a few star readings and a compass. That takes a pretty strong grasp of math, not to mention being able to read a chart. An Ul’Dahn can count coin, but does he know his latitude from his ledger?
18. Did you enjoy school?
Not really. The stuff I wanted to learn... making stuff... they didn’t cover enough of, and I’m no navigator. I learned the basics, and I did credibly. Didn’t get along so well with my classmates though.
19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
Most of my practical skills I learned from my Dad. Combat, tactics, survival. I was holding a sword as soon as I could lift one, and I never really put it down. The rest I learned from the smitty’s guild. Neither Mom nor Dad was really much into building things, but they encouraged me, and the guild always supported me. Even now, with my reputation tarnished.
I also know a little conjury I picked up in the Fane. I mostly learned to help pass the time during treatments, and take my mind off the pain. I learned a lot of elemental theory, and a little healing magic to help supplement my treatments. I’ll never be a great healer like Eva, but I know enough.
20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
Dad, mostly. I was always inspired by Dad’s stories, and I wanted to be a noble knight like him. He used to tell me he wasn’t the great hero he made himself out to be in his stories, but that’s okay.
Eva was also a role model, of a sort. Mostly, I envy her. I wish I could have even a fraction of her poise, grace... femininity. I feel... short, scrawny and drab next to her, but at the same time it isn’t just the physical differences. She has a.. a grace to her that I wish I could emulate.
21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
Mom was always a bit exasperated that I didn’t share her... obsession with fish. But we got along well. She never told me much of her past though, and she always seemed a little withdrawn, like she was afraid to get too close. She was always there for me, though, with a blanket, or a hug, or words of comfort. And Dad, of course, we were two of a kind.
22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A Paladin, and a soldier of Limsa Lominsa.
23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
When I was a kid, and too sick to really run around, hide and seek was one of my favorite games to play with Em and Eva. I also liked to try and figure out how things worked. I once took apart one of Uncle Dy’s clocks... then discovered I couldn’t put it back together. THAT got me in hot water. I also liked exploring, getting into all the nooks and crannies the adults ignored.
When I was finally better, I kinda went nuts for sports. Running especially. Anything where I could just enjoy being able to move and run and stretch and push myself, without it hurting or having a coughing fit. Competitive sports I enjoyed too.
24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
Curiosity, incorrigibleness, and stubborness.
25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
I wasn’t a popular kid. In Gridania the other kids were nice, but I was too frail and sick to play with ‘em much, and half the time I was stuck inside, so... it made it hard to make any real friends, aside from Emily. And then, when I was cured and we moved back to Limsa, I had too much of an attitude, and it wasn’t the right sort of attitude, if you get my meaning. I was always picking fights with the bullies... half the time I’d get ground into the dirt, but I wouldn’t stop, until eventually they started avoiding me because I was too much trouble.
26. When and with whom was your first kiss?
A 16 year old boy named Adrian, a hyuran son of a merchant.
27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
Adrian... popped my cherry, if you get my meaning, later in the same year we had our first kiss. He was the first one to really try and get to know me, you know? And... and I guess... something in me was so lonely that it just overrode all my good sense. I followed him around like a lovesick puppy. But then... I overheard him and his mates talking. See, he had been set up to it... it was a kind of wager between them, to... ‘mellow me out’, I suppose. And a challenge because they didn’t think he could bed me. And they were discussing the best way for him to get rid of me, as I was ‘no longer of interest’. It broke my heart, to realize that... the one I had given myself to was not who I thought he was at all.
And it broke his jaw, when I let him know how I felt.
28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
The only think supernatural about me is my stubborness.
15. How would you describe your childhood in general?

Part 3: Past InfluencePart 3: Past Influences
29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
Losing my mother and father to Dalamud's fall.
30. Who has had the most influence on you?
Currently Nel
31. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My smithing. I’m proud of my skill with the shield and the blade, but... I’m even more proud that I MADE that shield and blade. I know and trust the weapons and armor I make, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable in anything else.
32. What is your greatest regret?
Allowing my father to go to Carteneau in my stead, and leaving Mom in Limsa where she... well, a lot of people didn’t survive that day.
33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
There was this mad alchemist... thaumaturge... not sure what to call him, named Reilandles. This guy was a sick bastard, had cursed Nel as a child and made her slaughter her own family, and later on went back to wipe out Nel’s whole village with one of his experiments. He came back to mess with Nel again, and even had his sights on Ilyanna.
I... we hunted him down and trapped him. We had him beat... he was disarmed and unconscious, but... he had been caught before. He was just too much of a threat. I... killed him in cold blood, and cut his head off, to make sure he would never threaten my family again.
34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
No
35. When was the time you were the most frightened?
During the fall of Dalamud, when we watched the lights from Menphina’s Breath... malms offshore, and we could still see the land burning, and hear the screams of that bloody dragon... it was the end of the world. We didn’t know if there was going to be anything to go back to, or if maybe Bahamut would come for us next. And there was nothing we could do.
36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
In my early adventuring days, I partnered up with a highlander named Claus. Big, strong... not the smartest, but he was a sweet guy, and loyal as anything. Best kind of guy to have at your back. Anyway, him and I were looking to find a linkshell to join, and were in Gridania to meet a representative of The Adventure League of Eorzea. What we didn’t know was, was they were having a ceremony to induct new Azabs - Potential members - into the linkshell.
Well, like a complete doofus, when they started the ceremony, I thought this was for us, and I started to join in, until the guy we were there to meet told us this was for applicants who were already approved, and we were just there for an interview. I felt like such a dunce.
37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
Leaving Mom behind.
38. What is your best memory?
The wedding to Nel. I mean, I’m not huge on ceremony and such, but sometimes... sometimes it makes something great all the sweeter. Everyone we knew and loved was there that day, and for just one day, everyone put aside their differences or petty squabbles, and was just happy for us, and celebrated our marriage. It was the best feeling.
39. What is your worst memory?
You’d think it would be the day Dalamud fell, right? Well... except, it’s all muddied and jumbled now. I just remember lights and roaring and fear, and everyone huddled together. It’s BAD, but the worst?
The worst is the day Silvia Wenn died.
That memory is so crystal clear it hurts. We were starting out then, naiive, though we were indestructible. Then to have someone... who was the one we all figured would always be there just drop like that... not even in battle, she was on her way to Dragonhead for a campfire storytelling. Knowing she had fallen, she was hurt, desperately searching for her... then knowing that we were too late from the start. That she had been taken from us instantly, not by Garleans or beastmen or some villainy, but by random chance.

Part 4: Beliefs And OpinionsPart 4: Beliefs And Opinions
40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
I’m cynical, sure, but I like to think that... with enough effort and willpower, ANYTHING is possible.
Maybe I believe that a little less after Carteneau, but... I try to hold onto it.
41. What is your greatest fear?
To be sickly, weak and helpless again.
42. What are your religious views?
I pray to Menphina mostly... that was who my Mom prayed to. I know that Menphina is more the patron of Keepers, but my Mom always told me that it was love that made everything that our family had accomplished possible, love that had saved her, and that was why she paid Menphina tribute. I guess that struck a chord with me. Not that I think Menphina, or any of the Twelve, will swoop down and fix my problems. My life is my own... the Twelve gave us free will, and that means the power to make our lives better... or worse... lies solely with us. The Twelve guide us, but intervening would destroy this land we love as surely as the Primals do. Louisiox said as much.
43. What are your political views?
Politicians are cretins, each and every one. Ul’Dahn politics are the worst, with the Moneterists and Sultanists and everyone grinding each other into the dirt trying to climb to the top of a miserable pile of humanity. Not that Limsa is much better, being a bunch of pirates and all. Merlwyb is at least trying to reform them, but that’ll take decades, if not centuries. If I had to pick, I’d say Gridania’s politics are the least galling, even if the elezen there have their noses up so high they’d drown if it rained on them.
44. What are your views on sex?
As long as all parties are having fun, and of consenting age, the more the better!
45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
If it’s in the middle of a battle, I don’t have any problem with killing. If you picked up a weapon, you accepted what comes with that, and I can’t risk the lives of my own party by holding back. If someone surrenders or runs, though, I’m not going to chase them down and murder them. There’s a line there... I’m not there to kill the helpless or the powerless, I’m there to protect them.
There... was an exception, once. There might be again. I hope not.
46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
To willfully harm a child for their own ends.
47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
Yes.
48. What do you believe makes a successful life?
Still working on that...
49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
I wear my emotion on my sleeve, you might say. I don’t hold anything back, and I make my opinions known. Most times, the more level-headed members of the group are trying to get me to pipe down a bit.
Still... I don’t like ever appear weak, or admitting to being weak. Admitting I need help, or that I’m afraid or unsure... is hard.
50. Do you have any biases or prejudices?
I’m told I tend to judge people too quickly, and too harshly.
51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?
I will not harm a child, or through inaction allow them to be harmed. I got robbed of my own childhood by illness, and I’m not going to let someone else tarnish or destroy someone else’s with abuse.
52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
My family. Ilyanna, Nel, Manari, Miya, Eva... wouldn’t even be a second thought about it.

53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
I tend to be a bit sarcastic and blunt, I guess. I try and be friendly, but some people just rub me the wrong way. Especially if they’re trying to get something from me. Even if I’m known someone for a long time, I don’t soften my words or opinions for them.
54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
Ilyanna. She is my daughter, and currently the focus of my life.
55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
Dad, Eva, perhaps a few others.
Dad because he represents the Paladin and soldier I aspire to be, and the source of my moral views.
Eva because she represents the kind of woman I wish I could be... feminine, elegant, tall, poised.
56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.
Manari, Miya, Nanami, Nahu are all close friends. I don’t really have a best friend, however, as I lost them in the Calamity.
57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person.
Nel Celestine: My wife and the birth mother of Ilyanna. We both have the same drive and stubbornness, though Nel is the one with all the plans and ambition. I’m happy to just follow behind and support her.
58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.
Aside from Nel... I THOUGHT I was in love with Adrian. I really did. Mebbe I was just lonely and desperate. I love Torvald too, but that’s different, I guess.
There was something with Claus... it was one-sided though. He was in love with someone else, and made that clear. Still hurt though.
59. What do you look for in a potential lover?
This has gotten a bit complex, y’know? Gods, isn’t that the cliche, that Seekers don’t care who they bed, man or woman? Still, I’ve got tastes. Girls... well, don’t tell Nel or she’ll thwump me. But miqo’te naturally are nice. But there’s still something compelling about elezen women. Something about the legs, and just wanting to CLIMB ‘em...
*Ahem*
As for guys, I prefer hyurans. Male miqo’te are cute and all, but they’re WAY too dramatic for me. A big strong highlander is nice... though there’s something to be said for a refined, noble midlander.
Or a big, strong hyuran, wearing grease-covered overalls, looking like he just stepped out of the metalworks working on some new incredible device, snow white hair and bright eyes, taking a moment out of being the most wonderful genius in all of Eorzea to say a few admiring words to me...
*Sigh* Oh Master Cid...
60. How close are you to your family?
I was really close to my family before they died. Especially Dad. That’s why it’s so maddening that I struggle to remember any details about him at all. Everything about him keeps getting swallowed up by that white haze.
61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?
I married Nel, and I adopted Nel’s daughter Ilyanna as my own.
62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
Before the Calamity, Eva without question. I also rely upon Manari or others from Menphina's Breath.
63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?
I don’t trust anyone to protect me. Not even Nel. I’m the one who PROTECTS others. I’m the last line of defense. If I go down, then there’s no one else who’s going to be able to hold the line. People depend on me, people will die if I falter, so I gotta be that wall that won’t crumble.
Maybe... maybe once I would have been okay behind Dad’s shield. If anyone could hold fast where I couldn’t, it would have been him. But now... I guess when you grow up, you think your parents are indestructible. It’s a hard thing to find out they’re not.Â
64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
Nel, Manari, Ilyanna... a large number of people
65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
Gaius van Baelsar. Darnus is dead, and he is the one who had the most power to prevent Meteor, and yet allowed it to happen.
66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
Why, do you wanna fight about it?
67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
I’m not a leadership-type. Not in social situations for sure. I mean, are we talking a dance here or something? I’ll be against the wall with my punch, unless Nel drags me out onto the floor. I let others do that stuff, lead the way and decide what needs to be done, so I can spend my time DOING it.Â
But still, if the pumpkin cookies have hit the fan, I know enough to know when someone has to take charge, even if it’s just until the immediate crisis passes. I know my way around a battlefield, let’s just say.
68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
No. It's noisy and confusing, and in most cases you are more alone and isolated than if you're with a small, intimate group.
69. Do you care what others think of you?
More than I care to let on

My wedding ring
72. What is your favorite color?
Red.
73. What is your favorite food?
Dodo steaks
74. What, if anything, do you like to read?

Mmmm... Master Cid... *Sigh*
75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)?
I enjoy a good dramatic story. Anything from a campfire story to a full on stage production, the more heroic the hero, and the more villanous the villain, the better.
76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?
I have the occasional glass of hard cider or wine, but I’ve got no use for getting fall down drunk. Getting drunk, or otherwise impaired is a weakness, and the last thing I want to do is make myself weaker.
77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
At the forge.
78. What makes you laugh?
People genuinely being silly
79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
Mistreating children, selfishness, etc
80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?
Go down to the forge for a few hours
81. How do you deal with stress?
Forge
82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
Plans are carefully plotted out steps to take in a given situation that are generally rendered useless before reaching step 2, so I forgo all the wasted time making them
83. What are your pet peeves?
Being forced to sit out or miss a conflict.

Part 7: Self Images And Etc.Part 7: Self Images And Etc.
84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?
Wake up, shower, get dressed, check mail, get breakfast, check for jobs at the guild/Maelstrom, meet Nel at the shop, check the orders, get to work at the forge.
It's almost a relief when something snaps me out of this routine, and allows me to escape for a little bit.
85. What is your greatest strength as a person?
Determination. I’m not the strongest, fastest, or best at anything. There are tougher tanks, better healers, better swordswomen, better smiths. At any given thing, I am keenly aware that someone is better than me. But I will never, EVER give up.
86. What is your greatest weakness?
I guess I can’t pick my fights. I go in full throttle, even if it’s something I should probably just let slide.
87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
... I'd like legs like Eva's, please
88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
Extroverted
89. Are you generally organized or messy?
I had the answer to that somewhere... maybe under last night's dinner? Hmmm, perhaps under these papers... Lemme check in the bathroom...
90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.
Good at:
Smithing
Being a shield/defender
Any sort of fighting
Bad at:
Diplomacy
Weaving (YARN!)
Apologizing
91. Do you like yourself?
Before the Calamity? Yes.
Now? No... no I don't. On a good day, maybe I can say I don't hate myself.
92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…)
Originally, I went adventuring because my father told me to, as part of my training. I wanted to go directly into the Barracudas, but he told me I needed to go out and see the world, experience all it had to offer, before I decided my path.
Now? It's an escape. Life feels... stifling now. My superiors at the Maelstrom mistrust and dislike me, the shop is a constant struggle to make ends meet, and each day is filled with work that can't afford to go undone. I can't be a vagabond anymore, I have to support my family, as my father and mother supported me. Being able to get out, to adventure again... it allows me to recapture that freedom, if just a little. A guilty pleasure.
93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
To clear my name with the Maelstrom, to remove the tarnish from my position and make them remember the name of Turuphant in my father's stead.
94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In a bigger house? I don't know... I never really think that far ahead. Too much changes from day to day.
95. If you could choose, how would you want to die?
On the battlefield, with my sword in my hand, my shield on my arm, knowing that my sacrifice made a difference.
96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.
Make love to Nel
Punch my CO at the Maelstrom
Make love to Nel. Possibly on my CO's desk.
97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
I want to forge a sword that becomes legendary on its own. I want it to be sought after, and be used to accomplish great deeds, and for it to be remembered as the greatest work of a great smith
98. What three words best describe your personality?
Determined
Passionate
Opinionated
99. What three words would others probably use to describe you?
Stubborn
Stubborn
Stubborn
100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…)
It's okay to trust, it's okay to be afraid. Sometimes, one has to spend some time being weak so they can be strong when it really counts.
