((I went for my darker character first, just at random. So bear that in mind while reading.))
An almost black-skinned Roegadyn steps into the room, wearing only a pair of tattered trunks and some sandals. He casts his eyes around the dark room a moment and then sits gingerly in the chair that seems to have been designed for the smaller Hyur.
"I'm here," he states in his quiet rumble, propping his elbows on the edge of the table as he leans forward, peering into the dark at the featureless figure cast in shadows. "I don't know your game. But let's begin."
Zirn raises one eyebrow at the man who had spoken nothing but questions this entire time, sitting in silence for a moment, before finally letting loose a low chuckle. “That's your opinion of me after all that? Maybe I just wasn't clear.†He beckons with a finger. “Come over here so I can see what I can do to change that opinion of yours.â€
Having outlived his welcome, the man in the shadows decides to instead flip the table and dart off into the darkness. In his attempt to jump up and follow, Zirn suddenly finds himself on the floor after the abused chair finally gives up and collapses beneath him, followed shortly by the flipped table that pins him to the floor.
“Oy! You bastard!†Zirn roars, trying to extricate himself from beneath the table. “Get back here. Get... when I find you, I'm going to pummel your ass!â€

Part 1: The Basics
1.What is your full name?
"Zirnansa Swarzoeng," he says simply. "My friends call me Zirn. My family name is... unimportant. I don't suppose I need to tell you what it means?"
2.Where and when were you born?
"On a fishing boat, thirty years ago." He makes a disgusted face and shakes his head. "I just hope they hadn't pulled in a haul before that, or at the very least, they didn't serve that fish later."
3.Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
His eyes narrow, the whites turning into narrow slits against his nearly black skin, made all the more dark by the lack of light in the room. "A pair of unimportant, simple fishermen. Leave it at that."
4.Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
"I had an older brother. The perfect son, who thought nothing of a life of endlessly hauling in fish for the village. I'm sure he's still there, regardless of everything else that has gone on in the world since, fishing away."
5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
"I have a little place down by the water, near the shipbuilding guild." He smiles faintly, just a hint of white teeth shining. "I like to sit by the window and watch the ships come in. The sea breezes even come in through the window while I sleep. It's a little dose of paradise for me."
6.What is your occupation?
"Sailor, or bodyguard. Depending on what's paying." He hesitates a moment, when the next question does not come, and grins. "Oh, yes, and former pirate. Is this the moment the guards burst in?"
7.Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.
Seeming almost disappointed that the answer to the last question did not bring on a horde of Knights, his tensed muscles visibly relax as he sits back in the chair, which creaks under his weight. "Roegadyn Sea Wolf, male, thirty years of age. Seven and some fulms tall, two hundred and... something ponz." He obviously pulled those numbers out of his head.
He runs a hand over his bald head. "I buy some alchemical gunk that I rub on my head and other parts that keep me from growing hair. I like to be smooth, for a variety of reasons. I obviously have dark skin and dark eyes. I'm scarred from head to toe, which tends to happen in my line of work, but I consider them beauty marks."
"And, obviously, I tend to like to go around in as little clothing as possible. It's just more comfortable that way."
8.To which social class do you belong?
"The take what I need from those who have it sort. That doesn't make me particularly rich or poor, but I imagine you're thinking that makes me low class." He shrugs his shoulders. "That's fine with me, though."
9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
"Ha, other than what I've caught from a whore, no." He makes a show of rubbing himself between his legs, a smirk on his lips. "Thanks to alchemists and mages, those are only a temporary discomfort."
10. Are you right- or left-handed?
"I'm ambidextrous."
11. What does your voice sound like?
"I'm told it's a quiet rumble in normal conversation and a thundering storm in battle."
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
"Curse words? Probably everything. But other than that, I can't imagine what I might use with any frequency."
13. What do you have in your pockets?
He pats his tattered shorts, which have no pockets, and simply grins with a shrug of his shoulders.
14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
"Isn't this the sort of question you ask someone else? Do I really seem the type to be introspective?" He rolls his eyes but then settles into a thoughtful expression.
"Let's see. I never pass the red light district without stopping in for some fun. I have a possibly strange desire to have a pet Lalafell. I can't sleep well unless I'm on a ship at sea, or at the very least, with the smell of a sea breeze in the air. How's that?"

Part 2: Growing Up
15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
"Fish", he states simply. "Endless fish. Fish smells. Fish as food."
16. What is your earliest memory?
"Fish?" He waves a hand to indicate the man should just go on to the next question.
17. How much schooling have you had?
"Nothing formal, but my captain taught me quite a bit about just about everything. Prior to joining up with him, I learned reading, writing, basic mathematics and such from the village elder. The rest has been self-taught."
18. Did you enjoy school?
"Such as it was? Sure. It was time away from the fish."
19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
"With the Blacktongues. That's the pirate group I was with." He waves a hand dismissively, with a shake of his head. "They're dead now. Either killed outright or hung upon being brought back here to be judged by the Admiral." He does not seem particularly torn up or angry about it.
20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
"My captain, Captain Swarzoeng, was my role model. Still is in many ways." He barks out laughter, reaching up to rub his forehead as he muses. "He was the worst bastard I have ever met, cruel and vindictive, murderous and criminal in so many ways. But he taught me everything I know and gave me a life I cherish to this day."
"He was my size, much lighter skin, with long braided brown hair and a beard down to his navel. He could, and actually did once, crush a Hyur's skull between his hands." Zirn coughs lightly, hiding a small grin behind his fist. "He, uh, did have an unhealthy fascination with Chocobos though. He kept one in his quarters and killed men that would look at her."
"Ah, but it's improper to speak ill of the dead, isn't it? Though it's funnier now that I know he can't kill me for it."
21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
“I wanted a life that didn't revolve around fish. What do you think?â€
22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
“Anything but a fisherman.â€
23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
“Anything that got me away from the fish. I'd go swimming quite a bit, or watch the ships go out.â€
24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
He grins. “A complete and utter disregard for the family business. I seem to recall my father wringing my neck for refusing to give him the respect he believed he deserved. In my eyes though, he was just a man that thought a day was fulfilling if he brought in a large haul and nothing more. What can I say? I hit the rebellious stage early.â€
25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
“I was the odd one in the village that had no interest in fish. What do you think?â€
“But later, with the Blacktongues, I suppose I was still a child then. They were all my friends. For cutthroat pirates, they were good to me, insofar as teaching a kid the best way to stab someone or how to pick a lock.â€
26. When and with whom was your first kiss?
“I think I kissed a girl in my village. I don't remember her name though. That was a long time ago.â€
27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
“Ha, no. I lost my virginity to the Captain when I was twelve.†His smile is soft as he remembers. “Ah, but to a woman though, it wasn't until a couple years later, to a Miqo'te prostitute named... Amber, or something to that extent. That doesn't sound like a cat name now that I think about it, but it was something like that.â€
28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
“The whole life as a pirate, you think?†he questions, with raised eyebrow.
15. How would you describe your childhood in general?

Part 3: Past Influences
29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
“Meeting Llymlaen,†he says, almost too quietly to hear, as he strokes a finger across his chest.
30. Who has had the most influence on you?
“The Captain, clearly. Didn't you already ask something like this?â€
31. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
“Staying alive when I should have died,†he replies with a grin and a shrug of his shoulders. “I'm not flush with great achievements.â€
32. What is your greatest regret?
“At times, I regret not dying with the Captain and the others. At others, I regret never going back to see my family, if only to tell them that I'm doing fine. I can only imagine how much they worried for me over the years.â€
33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
He opens his mouth and then closes it, taking on a thoughtful expression. “I'm... not sure? There's a really long list, and I'm just talking things that even I realize were evil, though mostly only in hindsight. Much of what I do or have done is simply what others think of as evil, while I know they were necessary.â€
“Eh, pass. I can't think of anything in particular.â€
34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
He smiles toothily, pearly white against the almost pure black skin. “What do you think?â€
35. When was the time you were the most frightened?
Tilting his head to the side, he takes on a thoughtful look. “Frightened, huh?†He sits back, tilting his head to the other side, the chair creaking dangerously beneath him. “I was frightened in a storm once, when I first boarded the Captain's ship. I thought we would capsize from the waves spilling over the sides, with people getting whipped around by the winds and water.â€
“Beyond that though, I can't remember a time I was scared out of my wits like that.â€
36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
Once again, he opens his mouth and then closes it again, this time looking off to the side. “Well...â€
He sighs, and looks toward the man clad in shadows. “Fine, I've been open about most everything else. Besides, it's not that bad after everything else I've done. The Captain made me dress up like a woman when I was young, only a year after I first joined up, to infiltrate a walled town and deliver a package to a contact inside. I swear I was accosted every few feet by someone in that town.â€
He makes a sound, a low rumble, almost a growl. “It was only after I got to the tavern that I realized it was all a joke. It was an anniversary celebration for being with them for a year. It was the only time I seriously considered killing the Captain, but he took it in stride, thank the Twelve.†With a sigh, he chuckles faintly. “I still want to kill him for that one, the bastard.â€
37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
“We covered this. Moving on...â€
38. What is your best memory?
“My first kill.†He holds up a hand. “I know, I know. People tend to say that the first kill is the worst, but for me, it was... exhilarating. It was the first time I was left on my own, the others too busy fighting for their lives to look out for me. I can still remember the look on that Elezen's face as I gutted him. Me, a little sprig at the time, with a cutlass almost as big as I was.â€
39. What is your worst memory?
The almost ecstatic look on his face fades like it was never there. “Once again, we're covering old ground. Move on.â€

Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions
40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
“Either tends to suggest I think or worry about things ahead of time, right? Not a problem for me.â€
41. What is your greatest fear?
“Being somewhere very high up and not being able to get down. I have nightmares about it. That or falling.†He shudders lightly at the thought.
42. What are your religious views?
“I... adore Llymlaen, but other than that, I'm not particularly religious. I believe in the Twelve, but I don't worship them.â€
43. What are your political views?
“The Admiral's a bitch. Other than that, it doesn't cross my mind.â€
44. What are your views on sex?
“Seriously?†he asks, an eyebrow raised. “I don't mind or anything. I just don't think you know what you're getting into.â€
“Practically anything goes, you know? Guys, girls. I've done just about every race out there, including some of the beast races. Size is sometimes a problem, but that just eliminates certain things, not everything. I've even done a Chocobo once to mock the Captain... well outside his hearing.â€
He grins. “Too much? Should we move on?â€
45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
“Obviously,†he rolls his eyes. “I can't think of a single circumstance where I wouldn't kill someone, if I needed or wanted to. More often than not, it happens regardless of my intentions. It's part of that not thinking ahead thing. And also, there are some people that just deserve killing.â€
“Which, I imagine, lots of people think about people like me.â€
46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
“Uh... maybe I'm not the best person to ask this question?â€
47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
“Ha. That's something the lonely think up to imagine they won't be lonely forever, or couples come up with to validate their relationship. Love is just an excuse to screw the guy or girl you're lusting over.†He spreads his hands and shrugs. “I don't need any such excuse. I'm a horny bastard.â€
48. What do you believe makes a successful life?
“Money and material things? Doing what makes you happy? Hells, I don't know.â€
49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
“I'm answering all your questions with complete honesty, aren't I? I don't care what people think about me, that much should be obvious.â€
50. Do you have any biases or prejudices?
“A ton.â€
51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?
“If I'm being paid to do it, I could probably do just about anything. I probably wouldn't die for something or someone I don't believe in, or get myself arrested, or anything like that. I like my life and my freedom.â€
52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
He smirks. “Only myself. But beyond that, no, nothing.â€

Part 5: Relationships With Others
53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
“Hm, I think I treat everyone equally. I'm polite if they're polite, and so on. And, of course, if I know them better, I know how they'll treat me.†He taps a finger against his arm. “Though, I guess if I know them well, I will know why they act the way they do and not get all defensive when they're abrasive. So, yeah, to the second one I guess.â€
54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
“No one, at the moment. Anyone of any importance is dead.â€
55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
“Same.â€
56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.
“I, uh, haven't really been going out of my way to make friends lately. I've got the people I work for, sure. And some I work with. But they're just acquaintances.†He shrugs his shoulders. “I'm sure to make some before I know it, though.â€
57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person.
“No.â€
58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.
He sighs. “Like I said before, love isn't real. It's an excuse to get to bone the girl or guy in front of you.â€
59. What do you look for in a potential lover?
“That they have the appropriate holes?†he asks with a laugh. “Ah, I don't know. I'm not picky. I guess they just have to be willing, or at least, willing to accept payment for services rendered. They're more likely to do whatever I have in mind at a moment's notice.â€
60. How close are you to your family?
“I don't even know if they survived that mess following the Warriors of Light business. I really should write them a letter and find out.â€
61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?
He makes a face, halfway between disgust and exasperation. “Hell, I barely have a handle on my own life. What makes you think I'm going to bring kids into it? Maybe one day, when I've had all the fun I can handle, but that's a long way off.â€
62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
Frowning, he shrugs his shoulders. “I'll just have to be sure not to get in that kind of desperate situation, won't I?â€
63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?
“I'm not the type to need protection.â€
64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
“Wow, you're a real bastard.†He says it with something approaching real admiration. “No one, of course.â€
65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
“The Admiral. The bitch killed my friends. She gave the order at least. I get why she did it, in some recess of my brain, but it doesn't change the fact that I truly despise her.â€
66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
“Argue, briefly. Then I punch them in the face.â€
67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
“Uh, no. I'm a follower, especially in those situations.â€
68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
“Not really?†He grins, shaking his head. “Since I tend to get in a fight even in a casual conversation, having a large group of people there is simply likely to put me in a tougher spot, you know?â€
69. Do you care what others think of you?
“No, of course not. Obviously.â€

“Sailing. Fighting. Sex. Relaxing with a strong drink.†He shrugs his shoulders. “Simple pleasures, I'm sure.â€

“I'm not big on material things. They're likely to get lost, destroyed, or stolen.†He taps his chest. “I'd know.â€
72. What is your favorite color?
“...black?â€
73. What is your favorite food?
“Anything that isn't fish.â€
74. What, if anything, do you like to read?
“I'm not a very voracious reader. Most I've probably read with any enthusiasm are wanted posters. They still have my name wrong.â€
75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)?
“Strong drink, some drugs, some dancers. A bard off to the side, quietly playing tunes. Just a quiet, relaxing time is all the entertainment I require. Outside of combat, of course.â€
76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?
“Yeah, mainly for the mellow feeling. It's a nice way to unwind after a long day.â€
77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
“Uh... it's the same as any other night for me.†He cants his head to the side as he leans forward on the table. “Why? Is it special for most people?â€
78. What makes you laugh?
He sits back when the man answers his question with another question, and smirks. “Lalafells. They're cute. Especially when they fancy themselves warriors.†He pinches his index and thumb together, waving an imaginary toothpick around. “Those tiny blades they call swords, and all decked out in armor.â€
79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
“I can't think of anything. This shouldn't surprise you after all I've told you.â€
80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?
“I'd take a walk down to Madam Krishna's and spend the night there. Or maybe take a walk down to the docks and breathe in the sea breeze. Or even take a trip to a tavern, get a drink and do a little gambling.â€
81. How do you deal with stress?
“Sex and drugs.â€

“You really aren't listening when I answer, are you? Spontaneous. I'm incapable of planning ahead.â€

Part 7: Self Images And Etc.
84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?
“Uh, wake up, eat a light breakfast, go down to either the docks or the tavern to look for work, do that until evening, eat a proper meal, bathe, and sleep. If I can't find work, I'll go do something less savory or worthwhile.†He scratches his abs, once more leaning back into the groaning chair. “I don't really have a set routine so I'm not too put out when it doesn't go to plan.â€
85. What is your greatest strength as a person?
“My strength, obviously. There's not much out there that can overpower me in a contest of strength.â€
86. What is your greatest weakness?
Running a hand over his bald head, he sighs. “Ah, I have no idea really. This seems like a question for a more introspective person. I guess... my criminal tendencies? My odd morality? Something like that.â€
87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
“I'm happy the way I am.â€
88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
“Extroverted. Shouldn't this be obvious?â€
89. Are you generally organized or messy?
“Messy.â€
90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.
“Killing things, sailing, and... swimming?†He thinks about that for a moment and then shrugs, as if that will do. “Things I'm bad at though... uh, settling disputes without violence, going anywhere very high, and thinking things out ahead of time.â€
91. Do you like yourself?
“Obviously.â€
92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…)
“I'm big on violence, so it's to sate that need. Plus, adventuring tends to pay off either with straight coin or something I can sell off. I have an expensive lifestyle, after all.†He pauses a moment, and then frowns. “Of course, I'm also trying to... be a better person. Saving people and stuff like that are the best ways to do that.â€
93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
“Becoming filthy rich? Lord of my own country?†He chuckles. “Just kidding. I have no idea. I'm not a goal-oriented person, obviously. I live life by the day.â€
94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
“Dead? You like these future questions don't you?â€
95. If you could choose, how would you want to die?
“How very relevant,†he remarks, dryly. He actually thinks about this for a moment, tapping his index finger on the tabletop. “I'd like to die well. I'm not particularly after a quick death or anything, but I'd like to go out doing something. Not just gutted by a Knight of the Barracuda, or hanged, but doing something.â€
96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.
“I'd have my way with the Admiral and possibly kill her after, rut my way through the brothels in the city, and then go out in a blaze of glory against the Knights.†He smirks grimly, before shaking his head. “Though more likely I'll just drink myself into oblivion, buying everyone drinks, and go out in a drunken haze.â€
97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
“I wouldn't mind being a pirate more feared and revered than Captain Swarzoeng, or any pirate before or after him, but I'll settle for just being the biggest bastard anyone has ever met.â€
98. What three words best describe your personality?
“I've never really thought about it. I'm sure, after all of these questions, you could give me a better answer.†He pauses, waiting, and finally grins. “No? Ah well. Pass.â€
99. What three words would others probably use to describe you?
He counts off his fingers. “Cruel. Callous. Bastard? Sure, that will do.â€
100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…)[/b]
The man in the dark leans forward, but not enough for the shadows to recede. “Zirn, I don't have much hope that you will ever change, but I think you have it in you to be more than you are now. Find someone that can bring out those tiny shreds of goodness in your heart, and you will be better for it.â€
