I hate that this is the case. I would much rather that there were different terms for prefix-tribe, sub-tribe and breeding group.
"Band" would fit. Â For instance, Native Americans had larger "tribal" groups that gave them their name (Lakota Sioux, Apache, Cherokee, to name a few), but many bands that were part of the greater tribe, but moved and lived separately.
