Welcome to the RPC Rogoa,
Good to see plenty of introductions already. I was a bit swamped yesterday so my apologies for not providing a few resources earlier, hopefully you'll still find some use in them! While you mentioned moving from Gilgamesh to Balmung i'll make a point of including a few things about both, who knows!

Is a good starting point, a generic welcome post that covers a lot of the fundamentals here at the RPC, tools, history ect.

This is a Roleplay handbook written by Eva that covers a franks staggering array of topics. While it won't really help you "dive right in" I think it does aid in getting a firm grasp of some ideas that make FFXIV roleplay a bit different, as well as helping to identify the different kinds of roleplay and players you'll find out there.
But you want dive in and boy howdy do I have some dive in ready groups. As a note, I don't like to plug IC communities unless a specific criteria is presented (eg. I LIEK PIRATES.) so instead i'll offer up some OOC ones that will hopefully help you integrate and find a nice niche for yourself out there in the wide world. I just find their is such a variety to character and player desire in both the applicant and the organization that its best to steer clear of assuming.

"Intermission" is and OOC chatter hub. and what I mean by that as its an excellent place to get to know the people of Balmung even before you get to know their characters. Scattered across Eorzea, this is a great place to find where exactly people are, what exactly they are doing and if they might be open to a little company.

"Balmungs Finest" is a PVE grouping group, or to be more specific, a lot of people, myself included have a desire to place grouping server first, to promote getting to know each other through parties progressing through content just as much as talking and roleplaying. This also, with time, helps cut down on the "this is hard i'm leaving" after a single death. Speed runs are fine (Twelve I enjoy them.) but content can be rough, and its disheartening to feel as though a single slip causes everything to shatter. I'M LOOKING AT YOU AURUM VALE!!!
In case Gilgamesh continues to pique your interest they have a linkshell not unlike "Intermission" named "Coalition" that you can find:

Finally a small plug for an event occurring this weekend, public and open to all,

The Coffer and Coffin event is all about getting people together, new, old, grumpy, and genki. No obligation, no fee, just pop your head in if you like or are in the area.
Wow.. with all that aside I think i've finally woken up! Goood morning~ please keep in mind that (as the deluge of welcome posts have stated) the RPC is open to people and filled with open people. Ask some questions, come chat on the forums, maybe send a tell or two in game to people who interest you.
Best of luck in Eorzea! I need more tea..
