Greetings and welcome to the RPC Rad!
I'm terribly sorry I dismissed you from my group pretty much as soon as you joined, your Bravery was really low, and Faith not high enough to make you a caster. (And if you haven't played FFTactics that likely sounded like an insult.. >_< Rad is the first generic character you get in your group as a note.)
Since I seem to have snuck in here before the massive welcome wagon of death rolled in, I have my own opportunity, WAHAHAHA- ah sorry, anyways some information!

This is a welcome post the RPC as a whole, covering the primary resources, wiki, lantern, ect. It also gives you a bit of history about the RPC itself.

This RP handbook, might be a bit of a re-tread of a lot of information you are already familiar with, but there are some things that are specific to roleplay in FFXIV that I think are framed and discussed well. Eva makes a point of providing sources and different view points on many of the more common areas. Hopefully you find something useful there!
Since you mentioned having a character on Gilgamesh and an alt on Balmung i'd like to provide a few links to different communities.

The "Coalition" Is an OOC Roleplayer hub, where people of all sorts can talk and colaborate, great way to get to know the community, maybe find out where some events are happening and the like. If I recall correctly they also have a skype shared channel like Balmung, but you'd have to speak with Rock to know more (or maybe some one can chime in below me.)
As far as Balmung is concerned:

"Intermission" Is an OOC hub like Coalition, quite large and full of people at nearly every time of day, I highly recommend it if you'd like to get to know the people behind the characters better.
Or perhaps you just want to dungeon, go through Bray flox, maybe try your hand at some Dzemeal Darkhold..

"Balmungs Finest" is a Balmung initiative to group people on the server before turning to the duty finder. Both in an effort to get solid group of people who are willing to teach or try something hard, and a way to promote the community coming together out of character. Nothing makes you friends quite as fast as finally killing the feathered trollop Garuda.
I hope this gives you an idea of what might be out there for you to see, Gilgamesh and Balmung both have a lot to offer, and if you take a look at the Calendar I believe some events are approaching that might interest you.
Best of luck out there and remember that the forums are always welcome to questions!
